It’s designed to emulate the famous Neve 1073 preamp, and the gain structure available is surprisingly similar to the Sisma. It has a useful switchable effects loop, and since almost all of my basses have active preamps, the tone controls in most amps are redundant for me. [Required Sisma...

Yep! The Caveman bass preamps are expensive new. The compact version pops up from time-to-time for as little as $410. Great sounding, but twice the price of the V2 Subway preamp.

The V803 with a Caveman BP1 is a wonderful combination!

Well …. Diamond Rio and Tetrarch are certainly more different than alike! Both are very talented, but travel different paths.

Thanks JnF and y’all! With almost 60 years of bass playing under my “strap,” and 30+ years playing 5 string almost exclusively, I still haven’t seen a Roscoe Beck in the wild. I’m not a chunky neck fan, so they’re probably not for me anyway. But they certainly sound great!

Does anyone know what bass Dana’s playing?

Hmm …. I’ve also got a Jule Simone Pre / Simone 500. I think that’ll be my first comparison.

It's too early to tell for me. I've got a handful of gigs coming up, and I might try swapping out amps between sets or days. I have a few that I want to compare: Mesa TT-800, Mesa Bass Prodigy, Quilter V803, Genz Benz ShuttleMAX 9.2, Trickfish Bullhead .5, Ashdown RM-800 Eco. But that may...

I received my new Sisma on Saturday, and played two weekend gigs with it. Here are my initial impressions: LIKES: The sound is full, with plenty of bark and growl. I bought this head in the hopes that it would fatten up my GR Bass AT 212+ and AT 110 cabinets. I think it does a great job of...

Hi gtirard! Check out post 3 of this thread. The back of your amp says suggested min load 4 ohm. Are you sure you own a Sisma? :woot: (Sorry - couldn’t resist.)

Hmm …. Now I’m not sure where I got the notion that Sisma might not be 2 ohm stable. But because of all this additional confirmation, I feel MUCH more confident that the amp will safely handle a 2ohm load. Thanks, gtirard! (And Andrea, of course.):smug:

I completely agree. I didn’t intend to respond dismissively to gtirard’s warning, and I hope others didn’t interpret my response that way. My concern is whether the Sisma can truly handle a 2 ohm load, since the “recommended minimum load” appears to be 4 ohms.

Thanks for the guidance, but I’ve been playing with amps that exceed my cab’s power handling for most of my 50+ playing years. I’ll be using a HPF filter, which should ease the burden on the drivers. I’m primarily concerned about the amp overheating and shutting down during performances.

Quick question for you folks that are regularly gigging the Sisma: Is anyone been using the amp with a 2 ohm load? I’ve read that the Sisma will safely handle that impedance, and I have a couple of 4 ohm GR AT110 cabs that I’d like to use it with. (Mine’s coming in a few weeks.) Thanks!

A Tree Fell On Our Stage!

I live on the edge of a state park near Commencement Bay in Tacoma, WA. Last December, a large alder tree came down during a wind storm and took out the bed of my Tundra. Shortly afterward, I had an arborist survey my property and had several trees pruned and a couple removed. Wind and large...
