Jad Freer Sisma Mega Thread.

Considering the small amount of amplifiers that have a variable HPF, I’d get an external HPF like the Broughton (I have the hi/low pass pedal). It has very high headroom as it runs at 24V. It works great with backline amps very successfully!
Exactly, that's what I did. I've got 2 others amps (3 including Sisma), none have a variable HPF. I bought the Broughton, small and inexpensive, and I use it with all of my amps. Problem solved.

If one doesn't need a LPF, this Subway+II preamp is a nice way to add an HPF to an existing setup plus add the rest of the preamp/di properties too, for not much more money than just an HP/LP filter would run.

😊

It must be really small, this is smaller than their earlier Mesa offerings. I think this is smaller than my MXR flanger 👍

Still curious on the JF offering 😊
We have any pre-release shots?
A few insights on this thread:

I still wonder how Sisma would sound if it had a class D power section, but I've found a good explanation of class G - at least one I understand…

He had another video where he breaks down class d amps, how they work, and how they are now.
At about 14:26 he gets into the meat of it, the part that would concern us 😊

Quick question for you folks that are regularly gigging the Sisma: Is anyone been using the amp with a 2 ohm load? I’ve read that the Sisma will safely handle that impedance, and I have a couple of 4 ohm GR AT110 cabs that I’d like to use it with. (Mine’s coming in a few weeks.) Thanks!

I haven't tried it @2 ohm, but there's no reason to doubt about it.

I would be more worried about the cabs, because the AT110 is rated 300W, and the Sisma @2 ohm is rated 950W, potentially 450W per cab. So be careful.

Thanks for the guidance, but I’ve been playing with amps that exceed my cab’s power handling for most of my 50+ playing years. I’ll be using a HPF filter, which should ease the burden on the drivers. I’m primarily concerned about the amp overheating and shutting down during performances.

I semi regularly use the Sisma with 2 212 Minerva (4 ohm each). It’s absolutely insane sounding. I’ve basically never had a gig that required this much out of a bass amp but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to bring anyways sometimes.

Maybe you haven't, but there are plenty of players who have, so the warning that was provided should be embraced by those who might benefit from it.

I completely agree. I didn’t intend to respond dismissively to gtirard’s warning, and I hope others didn’t interpret my response that way. My concern is whether the Sisma can truly handle a 2 ohm load, since the “recommended minimum load” appears to be 4 ohms.

Yes it's safe at 2ohm operation. Limited at 950W.

Sorry but where did you see that info? I can't find it anywhere.

On Jad Freer website it says 2 ohm

700W @ 4Ohm / 350W @ 8Ohm / 950w @2Ohm

In the PDF user manual, it says 2 ohm

SPEAKER OUT
Connect your speakers here, using these combo outputs (1/4 Speakon). The minimum load is 2 Ohms.

On the product itself, it is written 2 ohm:

Are you sure you are talking about Sisma? :smug:

Hmm …. Now I’m not sure where I got the notion that Sisma might not be 2 ohm stable. But because of all this additional confirmation, I feel MUCH more confident that the amp will safely handle a 2ohm load. Thanks, gtirard! (And Andrea, of course.):smug:
