Well, since I last posted, I've now made two. Only thing to note is I talked to Barden, and they denied the pickups in Chris Squire's original were theirs. So, without being able to find a replacement that matched the original, I put in Bartolinis.

Well, I wrote to Joe Barden. They denied the ownership of the original pickups, which is good to learn. I don't know where I'd been told Chris' had Bardens ... some webpage somewhere. Glad to have more-accurate info, but I'm still without the correct answer. I guess I'll be emailing Jim...

I'm looking for a recommendation for alternatives to the Joe Barden pickups that were originally installed in Chris Squire's CS-74 Mouradian bass. I have seen more recent CS-74 basses with Bartolinis in them, and I'm sure they sound great, but cosmetically, they are wider than the original...

Yes, I read that from an account of Mr. Mouradian himself. But, I'm looking at pics and, based on the strap button position on the horn, it looks to be much slimmer than a Jazz bass. Either way, if one were to make one at a wood shop with a body blank, having the correct thickness would likely...

Can anyone give me dimensions on the body, in particular the depth of the bass? It looks similar to Rickenbacker, at 1 1/4", but is it possibly 1 1/2"? If this bass has been described as a 4001 on steroids, I would think body depth factors into it as well as the pickup placement.
