    Why can't I play neck-through basses? w/ Poll

I play two old Alembic series l's, fretted and fretless, along with an Ibanez microbes (it's just so tiny!)And I gotta say the neck throughs are wonderful, the sustain and tones are great! The wee mikrobass is a bolt on neck, and it's fun too, but on a whole different level (ie not quite as...

    Recommend me a fretless

While my fav fretless is my fretless series I alembic, i do have an old washburn bantam fretless that plays very well and has a very versitle tonal pallet. Good little bass to be sure. I would recomend it to anyone as a first fretless.

What benefit does owning multiple basses give you?

For my first decade of playing i stuck with 2 basses. An old fender tele bass and my custom fretless alembic series I. Then i began going gear crazy and gathered a few more(kubicki x-factor, other odd fenders, eko, univox)Then i came into some cash and really.went off the low frequency deep end...

I've started to prefer a pick. Why does this upset me?

As a"finger fellow" or " fingerer" of over 30 years of bass playing i can only imagine the inner conflict you face.... theres the"damn i feel like a "guitard"(just saw that for the first time in that post above! Love it!) element, sure...but perhaps the angst you endure comes from...

    The Fretless Club (Part IV)

Back in1982 my uncle offered to have a bass made for me for my birthday, by the company of my choice. So, i got in touch with alembic and put together what i figured would be an ultimate bass guitar. It was a series I medium scale four string with coco bolo face and back wood, fretless ebony...

    Synth Bass

I recently picked up the Sonuus B2M a analog to midi converter and after just a week of playing around with it I must say i like it. I am running the neck pickup of my alembic series I through the unit into a Triton while putting the treble pickp through a different signal chain. The B2M has a...

Does anyone else play a washburn?

Its a fretless Bantam...I' ve no idea what year it is, but i must say, it plays nicely and has fairly versitile tonal pallet. I bought it from a pawn shop back in '99 for $200. It has a good, quick neck, and a relatively light overall weight. While not my favorite fretless, i would still...
