    Yamaha TRB5P or BBNE1

I have tried them both and they both feel and sound amazing - the BBNE1 has a more luxurious finish and features like a jack recess and that specially designed preamp, the TRB5P has a nice feel coz of the neckthru. Hard call. Maybe get the TRB5P and the NE stomp box (getting harder to find)?

I own blue 5 and 4 str 2-TEK USA Cruise basses - the 4 string has a John East J-Retro... (GAME OVER!! as Potomuss mentioned above). I am glad I got them years ago courtesy of fellow TB members who were willing to ship them to Oz, before exporting them down under became impossible (due to the new...

    Rosewood vs Pau Ferro

I have a 90s Fender Roscoe Beck V with the Pau Ferro - when I first received it I thought WOW the fingerboard looks really pretty and different. It sounds amazing to my ears, except I can't really tell the difference between rosewood vs maple vs pau ferro on recordings..... can everyone else can?

Is this what love feels like?

I am curious to know was this Eden cab manufactured post-corporate takeover or when it was still made by the original staff? (BTW, I have a 1x15 Nemesis Eden combo which is the overseas 'affordable' version).

being capable of bass maintenance makes it easier/cheaper to own economy-priced instruments

HONDO Bass! I thought you couldn't get them anymore! They were available in the late 80s, early 90s in Singapore as cheap affordable alternatives to the expensive US of A Fenders... (esp when the exchange rate was killer).

What was THE Bass of the 90's?

Yes! The first thing that came to mind about the 90s was the Warwick Thumb bass - seemed to be used a lot in concerts and on recordings. Prince used one....

SOLD FS: Warwick Thumb Bass 6 String, NECK-THRU, 2003, **PRICE REDUCED**

Shipping a neck-thru bass to Oz is VERY EXPENSIVE. The shipping charges alone will be around $400, then there may be a quarantine fee and fumigation fee by AQIS (Aussie quarantine services). However, considering the current AUD to USD/CDN exchange rate, may still be worth it!!! Good luck with...

Hohner B2AV 5 String Headless Bass

Does this bass only take doubleball strings (like previous old models)? Or is the bridge modified to take single ball standard strings?

Tuning down half a step - what's the point?

Jarrett has hit the nail on the head!! I think the real reason is that when the guitarist plays an open chord, he can get a flat chord instead e.g. open chord E becomes Eb, open chord D become Db. Otherwise if playing in standard tuning, the Eb bar chord for a guitarist becomes a lot higher...

Maybe $10k for a Fodera ain't so bad?

Hey, I just watched American Idol and the bassist was playing a very tasty Fodera.
