It works for me quite often in small, even some medium contexts with either passive amplification from a nice resonant stage, or patching into the a PA system. If you have house sound support, the only real question to answer is how loud does your drummer play, and will it be enough for on stage...

Bringing a backup bass and amp to a gig

The only time I'll bring a backup bass is for wedding gigs, cause you know that is someone's forever memory and they're paying me well. But I've never needed one - every time I've had a bass' electronics fail, they've given me plenty of warning, such as a jack making extra noise, or pots getting...

Bass VI: best selling BASS guitar of 2022!

I've had an agile bass vi for close to a decade, and this thing is amazing. when i first got it, it became my main bass for close to a year. I'd use my looper and do bass + rhythm and tenor guitar parts. I've experimented with 3 different sets of strings, from 87s to 130s, and settlings on 95s...

depending on how loud drums are, the BG-120 combo might pull it off by itself, and if not, adding a C2 cab should do the trick. If you keep them stacked at home, the two cabs together won't take up any more floor space than just one by itself.

For anyone wondering, it is possible for a BG120 + C2 to be loud enough (with a rock band) for the engineer to ask you to turn down the stage volume because he can't balance the FOH mix  wasn't even using the Markbass miniboost at the time!

Which combo? I thought I needed speakon for connecting the BG120 + C2 (retailers website said so) but turned out they use combo jacks so 1/4 works fine for me.

I had that same SWR workingman 1x10 combo. sounded great and was ahead of its time with features - pretty much all the ins and outs we get on the PJB bass cub pro, plus tilt back stand, but at about 2x the weight and 1/3 the watts, but given its sound i think its speaker was more efficient -...

The boss cube bass lx (roland has given them the cube series mantle to carry) looks like a slightly souped up version of the older bass microcube rx which i've had for a decade. these are in completely different classes, i don't think of them as trying to compete in any arena with PJB. for me it...

For sale is the soft case that came with the bass guitar bought in spring 2016. Used it for about a month when I realized the small rips just starting to form (see photo) did not bode well for long term bicycle commuting to gigs/rehearsals, and retired it from service. $30 includes shipping to...

Is like butter. But for rock tones, if I get to be picky, I might prefer the voicing from the TE Elf over AI Clarus. Now if only the Elf had that built in HP filter.....But at the end of the day I'm just happy to play with whatever [reliable] backline is offered if I don't have to lug any of my...
