Who are the most Underrated Rock players?

Doesn't anyone remember Cactus? Tim Bogert was such an animalistic player on those albums. If you've never heard these guys, you owe it to yourself as a bassist to check out Tim's work.

The Mediocre Bassist Club, pt. 2: Bigger! (Better, not so much.)

I've been playing in bands for quite a few years and I can hold a groove. I like to move around the fret board a bit and even solo occassionally. I had a guy come up to me after a gig recently and say, " You don't move around much." I told him, " I move what needs movin'." I don't consider...

Best rock basslines of all time

I'm gonna throw this in because I rarely see these guys mentioned. Go on itunes and check out The Sun Is Shining by Cactus. Tim Bogert really tears it up. Great rock bass sound. If that's too "bluesy" for you look into Evil by the same band. Get it all. You won't be sorry if you're into rock...

Which 2 bassist had the biggest impact on your style ?

Geezer Butler and Tim Bogert, especially from his days with Cactus. I think Tim had the best sound. Just heavy and really great runs, but he could hold in when he had to. Geezer is just an animal.

    Cab Wattage

Thank you bongo. I wasn't sure how varying wattages play out, but it makes sense the way you explained it. I was thinking of going back to a 410 and 215 arrangement I had before. Those cabs match ohms and watts. Thanks again.

Who else does this to their cabs?

Oh, yeah. We do it with our pa equipment, too. It looks much neater.

    Cab Wattage

I have a 500 watt 4x10 @ 8 ohms cab and a 200 watt 18+2x10 @ 4 ohms cab. Can I run this combo through a Peavey Nitrobass 450? It puts out 450 watts @ 2 ohms and i've got 2.667 ohms, if my math is right. Is there a possibility of damaging the 200 watt cab? The DDT protection light doesn't come on...

    Hearing Loss and Ear Plugs

I have been playing music all of my life and now have tinnitus. It is hard to describe to someone who doesn't have it what it is like. There is ringing in my ears all of the time. My left is worse than my right. Last year i went to an audioloist and spent the 150 bucks for custom plugs. I got 15...

    Any Wisconsin Bassists out there??

I'm from Milwaukee and play with The Eddy Weber Band. Recently lost our drummer to a lack of good anti-psychotic medication:crying: and are rehearsing with the new guy.

    Short Scale Basses

Yes, bongomania, I am in the market for a short scale. I can swing around a grand, maybe a little more. I am kind of new here and I haven't checked the other threads. But I will now. Thanks for the tip.
