Sounds like you have a solder short in the foot switch. I know this because this is exactly the way my BEF functioned. You bypass the effect and you can still hear it. Call Source Audio...they are awesome and will help you.....i sent it in (after they generated an rma for me) and it was fixed...

I have played many basses and have worked for G&L but found that my Music Man sterlings are the best. I have a 4 H and a 5 HH. The tone is incredible.....and the necks are just sick!

The sterling is NOT like the squire for musicman. However there is a line of basses out there called Sterling by musicman (sterlingbymusicman.com - The SB14). Definitely a bad example. The US made sterling (EBMM Sterling) is its own kind and the real thing :) ...the differences between the US...

How about Genz Benz stuff...go with with either a shuttle 6.0 or a shuttle 9.0. I have a 6.0 and get grit and phat sound out of it just using the shuttle 6.0-12t combo...that's only 375 watts but paired with a 12t cab you can get 600w out of it with some great tone. I got my combo real cheap due...

Greatest amp I have owned.....and surprisingly the most powerful....It can handle anything....In a big show well, Its a great DI :)
