    Passive-aggressive behavior

I recently had to quit a group (shortly after joining) because of the way the singer talked to the other musicians. Even though the singer was nothing but nice to me (because I was the newest member), I had the overwhelming feeling that once the honeymoon period was over that they would...

What’s the downside of Class D amps?

Cons: 1.) Inherent white noise even at the lowest volume. 2.) A fan- which, if working incorrectly, can cause noise. 3.) No tubes. Pros: 1.) Cheaper. 2.) Lighter. 3.) No tubes. The Class A tube alternative is much more expensive. For example, I recently purchased an Ampeg RB-210 for...

New CME Exclusive Gibson SG Basses

Damn! They advertised one thing and sent another??? I’d be shaking them down for more than $100.

Are smaller (<50 watt) tube amps missing from the current bass amp market?

Another Update: I played a bit larger gig, same 3-piece garage rock band but with a full PA system and at a bit louder volume. I had the Gain/Volume on the Pf-20t set to 10 before we even started and the Drummer still asked me to turn up before the first song. This amp sounds amazing (especially...

    I fear I’ve come down with… “guitar player’s shoulder”

The artist I currently play bass for rehearses like that all the time haha

    I fear I’ve come down with… “guitar player’s shoulder”

It's localized to the backside of the shoulder. Seems to radiate between the top center of shoulder blade and the muscle. Today I called a friend of mine who plays bass professionally and who's father is a physical therapist. He mentioned he had similar issues in the past and had to train...

    I fear I’ve come down with… “guitar player’s shoulder”

I will note- I’m 5’10” about 170lbs (pretty average I guess) for whatever reason I look like I’m starring in Honey I Shrunk The Kids when I see photos of myself live. Haha.

Not yet but I’m going to! 9.8lbs! It’s a 60th anniversary MIM in Olympic white

    I fear I’ve come down with… “guitar player’s shoulder”

A condition where someone who has spent their entire life playing guitar and who’s shoulder is not conditioned for the weight of an electric bass. In all seriousness, my shoulder is absolutely SCREAMING after an hour long set. I’m wearing just a normal Levy strap and playing a MIM Jazz Bass...

Are smaller (<50 watt) tube amps missing from the current bass amp market?

Having a good stage volume is often overlooked IMO. I feel like changes in my dynamics actually matter or at the very least are noticeable when the band is at a reasonable volume.

Are smaller (<50 watt) tube amps missing from the current bass amp market?

I felt that way but didn’t know enough to continue any further. Best case scenario, bad demo - worst case, bad amp. Decided to walk away regardless.

Are smaller (<50 watt) tube amps missing from the current bass amp market?

Update: Played a gig with the PF-20T through a 2x10 cab last night. Garage rock trio w/ nothing going through the PA except for vocals. Only had the Ampeg on 2. It’s a groovy little amp.

Are smaller (<50 watt) tube amps missing from the current bass amp market?

Thanks for weighing in on that. The video didn’t sound anything like the other demos I’ve heard of those amps. It was also done using a cab that I’ve not seen before though.

Are smaller (<50 watt) tube amps missing from the current bass amp market?

I hear that. I’m not a fan of planned obsolescence, cheapening production by sacrificing repairability or just making something in a way where it is cheaper to rebuy than to repair.

Are smaller (<50 watt) tube amps missing from the current bass amp market?

It was never a requirement. In my original post I just made an observation that there were not a ton of options in the modern <50 tube bass amp market, especially hand wired ones.
