    Roundwounds with HUGE low end.

    I'm really liking the Ernie ball cobalts. I use the 55-110 gauge, they're a little bright for my tastes at first, but once you give em a bit to break in, they're pretty darn great.

    Bass amp needed from a guitarist perspective

    Hartke lh500- $350 Find a decent 8ohm 410 locally. Find a sansamp pedal of some kind (bass driver, vt bass, gt2) and you are good to go. A power amp with a pre amp is a good choice as well
