Would you take the Bieber gig?

I'd take it. I'm 21, finishing up school, no commitments at home except college. I'd take it for sure. If I had my pick of pop artists to tour for, I'd rather be the touring bassist for Bruno Mars though. That band can shred.

    Favorite punk rock bass player?

It's more pop-punk, but Kelen Capener from the band The Story So Far has some sick licks. If you've got a quick half hour listen to this album, the bass lines are so sweet.

    Tiny pedals (1590A pedals)

Thanks man! I'll try to get in touch with the guy who sent it to me as well as look at the inside of it to see if I can make sense of the circuits. I appreciate the link too, tons of cool stuff!

    Tiny pedals (1590A pedals)

I need some help identifying a 1590A pedal I got off of here a couple years ago. Another TB member sent me a really cool two knob fuzz pedal as part of a "pay it forward" type deal but I don't have any info on it. It looks to be a byoc or custom build and as far as I can tell, both knobs are...

Do you feel you need to justify your instrument?

Anybody that says bass is easy does not play bass well. "Well" meaning keeping tempo and in the pocket with the drummer.

Pedal Breeders' BIG Board Club Part II: Biggins'

I put some velcro and rubber feet on a piece of plywood for my 4 pedals so they fit in my rack case with my amp and a power conditioner. No need to haul around another bag or case, just throw it in the rack and go.

Packing Your Trailer/Truck - Rate Your Band

That's probably not the technical term for them, but they're these giant road cases we would pack our drums and other stands in. 6 feet long, 3 feet wide, and 3 feet deep. We had one that held all of the drummers gear (stands, toms, kick, snare) and another that we packed cables, mic stands, and...

    Paid gig for a church?

$100 bucks? What churches are you playing at where you can get a hundred a sunday? I'm in. But really OP, we pay like 40 bucks or whatever a sunday for fill-ins at my church. Whatever it takes to fill their tanks and buy lunch. It's tough at some churches, they're not all lined with money...

Packing Your Trailer/Truck - Rate Your Band

Myself, a solid 4. It takes me one or two loads to get it right, but once I have it figured out everybody just hands me things as I call out for them. Big heavy stuff on the bottom, light small stuff on the top packed so it won't move. Last summer I was packing a 6x8 trailer with 2 drum boats...

    Road Gigs and Eating

I'm only 21 so my stomach is somewhat of a steel trap, but basically whatever I got my hands on. Cigarettes. They cut down on my appetite. Mcnuggets and fries from the dollar menu. Cheapest dinner ever. Juice. A bunch of those little bottles of cranberry juice or whatever, fills your stomach...

What did you pay for your MAIN stage rig?

GK Goldline 500, $350 (GC clearance) Ashdown Neo 410h $300 (GC used) Monster Power conditioner $100 Just pulled the trigger on a new EWI 6u rack case, best $140 ever spent. Pretty stoked to keep this rig running for a while.

Anyone using a powered loudspeaker for hard rock?

These dudes are all using that same idea. It sounds pretty decent live and is consistent with their recordings.

    Parents on tour?

My parents didn't let me tour with bands until I was 18 and it was ONLY because I was selling merch for my cousin's band and he was going to watch over me. I've seen bands of 16 and 17 year olds go on tour with their parents as chaperones and managers, no problems. If mom tags along, you've...

    Touring real-Live setups

I toured regionally for a while, now it's mostly just local stuff but my rig hasn't changed. Your gear should be fine and won't need to be upgraded, just make sure everything is in a hard case or at least has some protection over it for wear and tear during transport and load in/load out. If...

Pay to Play is the new Play for Free

As a local artist, I'll sell tickets if it means I'll get a cut of the profits. I'll sell tickets if it means my band gets a better spot in the lineup. I'll take a merch cut if I sell 20+ shirts and didn't have to sell tickets. I WILL not sell tickets, take a merch cut, and not be guaranteed any...
