I have been doing both. I use 2 that are on battery and 1 that I leave plugged in. So far battery operation has been fine getting at least 4 hours. I charge them up until 15-20 min before we start. At under $30 each even if they only last a year or 2 I will have gotten my money out of them...

I just need a backup. So I am either going to buy something super cheap that would be a backup or buy something really nice and make the 705 my backup.

Thanks for all the replies. It's about a 2.5 hour drive, one way, for me so to be able to hit as many places as possible is best. I'll definitely hit up a bunch of these places. I just need to find a weekend to do it!

I haven't used all of them but everything you mentioned except the octaver are great. I couldn't get it to work well on the low notes. Up higher it works great. I have a POG so I just added it to my pedal board since it works so good.
