Got my first modern American made Fender... that sympathetic 7th fret buzz..

Though this is unrelated in some ways I guess it applies to people suggesting that I get familiar with working on my basses. One of the original reasons why I picked up a Squier was because a friend of mine who plays in a big touring band suggested that I get one just for the body alone and...

Got my first modern American made Fender... that sympathetic 7th fret buzz..

Actually, I would like to add that playing around on the bass just now I have been able to adjust my technique so that playing the double stop at the 7th fret on the E in g-string doesn't produce The Buzz. I guess I'm already starting to develop a relationship with this bass. So that gives me...

Got my first modern American made Fender... that sympathetic 7th fret buzz..

Ok I've had a chance to digest most of the posts. All of them are helpful but Turnaround's post gave me the hope that adding some relief will help solve it. I totally get what you're saying that a more well-made instrument is more likely to have this issue and that's why I've never encountered...

Got my first modern American made Fender... that sympathetic 7th fret buzz..

Well I played on a 6 string fretless and upright for many of those years and started grabbing Squiers when i needed a fretted bass in a hurry for a band around 2008. So I've been playing on various Squirts for about 13 years overall. But my main axe has been the upright the whole time. Thanks...

Got my first modern American made Fender... that sympathetic 7th fret buzz..

Sorry i don't necessarily mean that literally. Just that it resonated musically speaking with me and sounded beautiful both with and without the amp. I am definitely reserved about messing with my basses too much. I'm definitely not much of a technician and not that confident when it comes to...

Got my first modern American made Fender... that sympathetic 7th fret buzz..

Thanks. Thing is though this buzz is more of a rattle that makes playing a minor third double stop on the E and G string at the 7th fret impossible. Its like a choking rattle that is prohibitive.

Got my first modern American made Fender... that sympathetic 7th fret buzz..

So I finally took the plunge after many many years of waiting to figure out what Fender style bass I wanted before buying an American made. I recently fell in love with the P bass style after playing my friend's Squier P bass of all things throughout the pandemic. I had mostly been playing jazz...

Running my cabs parallel from Ampeg PF500

Ahhh might have answered my own question. The Subway's second quarter inch jack says paralleled out....

Running my cabs parallel from Ampeg PF500

Hi, I wanted to experiment with running my Avatar 210 and Mesa Boogie Subway 112 (both 8 ohms) in parallel from my Ampeg PF500 but I only have 1/4" speaker cables and the PF500 only has one 1/4" jack for the speaker outputs. Can I daisy chain the cabs from one to the other to run them in...

Avatar SB112 as alternative to 210

So I grabbed the Subway 112 and am loving it. It's exactly what I need in general. So light, easy to carry and the sound is fat and tight with fantastic clarity. I also fell in love with the WD800 in the shop....

    Lightweight Precision style bass options?

Yes! When I first got it I was only like 20 years old and bought it off some dude not realizing the serial number on the back plate had been burned off. It was the sort of thing I never thought to look at because I had no idea the instruments have serial numbers like that. So who knows the...

    Lightweight Precision style bass options?

Hi, after years of playing jazz style basses and necks, I've recently fallen in love with the Precision bass style. The only thing I'm not loving is the weight. Also, I've been leaning towards a 5-string bass due to my current playing situations. Are there any lightweight options in the...

Avatar SB112 as alternative to 210

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the feedback. I'm learning a lot here reading all your comments. I'm trying out a Subway 112 tomorrow so I'll let you know how it goes. I'll probably use it as an opportunity to try out a Subway amp head as well even though I can't afford one right now...

Thanks! I'll give that a try and see if it helps.

Avatar SB112 as alternative to 210

Sadly I just went down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out this sympathetic rattle/buzz that starts cropping up at the A string on my current avatar 210 and I think it's just the cabinet itself. I thought it was just the plate but took that off and realized it was then buzzing around the...
