Avatar SB112 as alternative to 210

A 1x12 will not hang with a 2x10. Maybe a Barefaced. But not many others. The Avatar B210 is an amazing cab. It will keep up with a loud drummer. So will an Avatar B15 but that’s a bigger cab.
Edit: I am speaking of 4 Ohm Neo loaded Avatar cabs.

I love my 4 ohm Avatar 210.

I've owned a 4ohm Avatar SB126 before and it was great. With a 250 watt head it would hang with a heavy handed drummer plus the whole band. It was kinda heavy, but built like a tank!

So, you have a rattle - I've heard leaks sound like rattles before. Oddest was a cabinet with two 1/4 inch jacks - the leaks from an unused jack can soulnd rather "rattly", and are very easy to fix (stick an unwired 1/4" plug in it).

The issue is not cone area (where the 210 plainly wins), but displacement. Depending on the excursion limits of the particular 10's and 12's involved, there are times when a 112 will hang with (sometimes dominate) a 210.

I had (years ago) 115 cabinets. Great sounding, plenty of deep low end. My current "big" cabs are 112's - with more than twice the xmax in the 12's than the 15's had. They definitely more than hang with the 115's.

Avatar SB112 (Neo) sounds pretty fat at least the one of have. The Subway would probably be tighter and has more slam. The Avatar low B is decent and gig worthy.

I'm also thinking about getting the Mesa Subway amp head now that I've been looking at the Mesa gear lol.... and my local shops carry it as well.

Big +1 for a Mesa Subway head!

For almost a year now (yes sir, we've been playing jobs almost all the way through the "down time") I've been driving my Avatar 210 Neo cabinets with a Mesa D-800+ head with GREAT results!

Try the Subway cabs first, see if their sound is for "your" ears and wallet.
I've done in store auditions of the Subway 112, 115, and 212.
REALLY liked the 212, the others not so much.
"My ears" thought my two, Avatar 210's stacked as a vertical 410 covered alot more ground.

The Avatar Neo 210 cabs I have come in at 42 lbs. each and 16" in depth, the Subways are 18+" in depth.
I'm relatively small in stature and that extra 2+" in cabinet depth make moving a PIA for me.

I use an SB112 after using the Avatar 210 as a stand-alone for years. I lose nothing with the 112 except about 9 lbs. It definitely "hangs" with a ten-piece horn band as well as the older 210 did. I also used to own the 115, wich was huge and heavy but not much more capable than the current 112.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the feedback. I'm learning a lot here reading all your comments. I'm trying out a Subway 112 tomorrow so I'll let you know how it goes. I'll probably use it as an opportunity to try out a Subway amp head as well even though I can't afford one right now. You'll give me a good idea of how different the cab will sound compared to my current lower wattage head. Now I have to figure out how to get my hands on a lightweight P bass because I just been messing around on my friends kids Squier P bass and I've fallen in love with it LOL. Thing is heavy as hell though and kills my back, but that sound and I love the neck too. I've always been a jazz bass guy

So I grabbed the Subway 112 and am loving it. It's exactly what I need in general. So light, easy to carry and the sound is fat and tight with fantastic clarity. I also fell in love with the WD800 in the shop....
