One way I've used the amp grinder, is using the clean blend to first set the foundation, then slowing dial in the dirt side for my mids/highs.

I’ve recently been exploring the use of “clippers” in place of limiters to manage transients with short but high peaks. Stuff like kicks and snares can be clipped with relatively little coloration or noticeable distortion. It’s got me listening for different things and in some ways the Rat/Grinder set to light clipping reminds me of what I’m getting from the Ableton clipper effect. I need to record some audio to validate, but I suspect the Grinder can get me what I’m after. The trick will be setting the clean blend and watching the dynamics that it allows through.

This is my first DA pedal. I’ll track down an MBD eventually. I know the D is for Distortion, but in my head it’s always been Mosfet Bass Death, so I’m inclined to find an earlier MBD3 before the retro redesign.

I also just picked up a Dunwich/Magic ODB on a trade, and it’s a cool pedal as well especially at 18v. I had a Pork and Pickle for a while, and I’m currently rocking a Locust Star.

What’s your thoughts on the grinder compared to the ODB? Do you use both on your board?
