Been playing a bunch of warm weather gigs. Too hot.
Does anyone have a recommend for a contractor grade or similar floor fan? Something small, rugged, but really effective. Something to throw in the car for just in case.
There must be a...
Hi! Could someone tell me if the fan of my B2 should suck air into the amp via the fan opening? Or if it should blow through the fan opening?
Also, would anyone know the CFM this should have? I suspect the previous owner replaced it with some generic fan, and only looked at voltage and diameter.

Main question here is….
How come fans in combos tend to be quieter than stand alone heads?
So from reading several threads I’ve learned that this can be a contentious point to some.
I’ve read many good arguments for the ‘why does it matter?’ Camp and good arguments for the ‘it bothers me’...
So, I've grown really tired of the ridiculously loud fan. I use this at home alot but at very low volume and for fairly short periods of time, maybe hr or so.
Would it really overheat if I disconnected the fan when I'm using it like this? If its a problem, how about a quieter aftermarket fan?
So I got huge issues with my Warwick Bass.
Warwick RockBass Corvette Multiscale, 5-String - Solid Black Satin | W-Music Distribution
I think it's the first Warwick to have fan frets and it kinda shows.
When I got it I wasn't able to get the intonation on the G and D String right. They would...
I have a RH450 bass head and it cut out at a reasonably large festival gig last weekend when running on about half volume (It lasted around 20 minutes ish). Only th epower amp failed, the lights and all other functions were fine and the DI out wasn't affected - just no sound form the cabs. I did...
I brought out my SM500S last night after issues with another rig. It sounded great but ran really, really hot and during the second set, shut off. I moved to a different preamp/power amp, and later it turned back on, presumably after sufficient cooling.
I could not feel any airflow from the side...
Took a punt on this two days ago on eBay when a B-stock came up for £200... figured there wasn’t much to lose at that price point.
Here she is next to my Dingwall Super P5:
My initial impression is that it’s insane how they are selling these for £299. This one at £200 is probably as many as...
Hello all,
I’ve noticed many treads of people discussing about the Tao of Bass.
I’m considering doing a a live, interactive video on my Facebook and/or instagram page to answer questions, perhaps help explain and clarify issues about pivots, extensions, crab, fan, etc
Let me know if this would...
Hi guys.
Took delivery of a new Hartke TX600 today, wanted a backup/alternate head. Love this amp, particularly enjoy the nice warm tone I can get out of it, but find myself wondering about the fan. The manual says that the (variable speed) fan may not even switch on initially, and suggests...
...the new Specials are pretty impressive, I must admit. I've never taken to the chunky necks, hefty weight, sound, or playability, except for a GC 25th Anniversary model, and the Classic model. I've heard sooooooo much about these redesigned models, that I had to hit up GC to try one. Keep...
I'm using a EDEN WTX-264 right now, with two EX110 cabinets. Soundwise I like the amp a lot. But in my small room the fan gets annoying. Especially when playing along with with Spotify music on low volumes.
Are there any fanless amps? Preferably within the friendly price range of the WTX-264.
Just picked up an SWR Studio 220, very happy with the amp so far.
Was just contacted by some former band mates, they want to gig again, and that is potentially a very good thing. However: I bought the 220 thinking it would be a nice home practice head, and with the preamp out - add a...
Have an MB Fusion 800 purchased new around three years ago. Has been and continues to perform well, although in the past two weeks I've noticed the top of the chassis is very VERY warm on the top left side and the cooling fan is not coming on. The chassis doesn't exceed touch temperature...
So I had rehearsal last night, it's been quite warm recently with the heatwave and we practice in a 15×15 room .... there's 6 of us.... I kept checking it because I'm poor lol but the fan never came on and when we started packing I thought I'd just treet switch it on again and see if the fan...
Hey all!
At just shy of the 3 year mark, my GK MB Fusion 500 has developed a high pitched whine when the fan turns on. It seems to be creating electrical interference and the whine is coming through the speaker. The noise is not present until the fan turns on, and disappears when the fan turns...
Hi,
I posted a similar question a while ago but did not get any answers, so I am trying again.
My LM II has a 60mm 12V DC two wire fan in it that is a bit too noisy when i use it at home in my music room.
I am not an electronics expert but I could replace the fan. I just don't know which one to...
In a previous post, I wrote that a lesson offered by another bass player had flaws in it. I asked people not to state his name as I had no wish to make things personal. I had the belief that it was possible to discuss the subject of music with people on TB and get their cooperation to meet me...
Hi,
I bought a used LM II and from what I read, the fan in this amp is supposed to be dead silent. That is not the case in my amp. It does not sound broken, the amp just sounds like I have a big desktop PC in my room.I did clean the blades and the heatsinks, no difference. It kind of bothers me...
So the cooling fans on my Hartke LH1000 had started making quite a bit of noise. Over time it kept getting louder. My band was scheduled to do some recording and I wanted to get the noise fixed to bring it to the studio with me.
After doing some reading and poking around the internet I found...
It seems that sufficient people have praised this pedal for the "you must all be sheep" folks to come out of the woodwork and be contrary.
I'll just say that the Grizzly Bass is my best purchase in a long, long time.
I employ it to SUBTLY use overdrive to warm up and fatten the tone, plus the...
The fan itself is not noisy. The airflow is. The air sucked into the unit then distributed out the 2 side vents is the primary cause of the "fan noise"
The variable speed fan that doesn't seem to turn off.. does.
The fan doesn't come on unless a speaker cabinet is connect and being used.
I was...
Hi,
I like my old HD350 but even at it's slowest speed the fan still seems noisy in comparison to some other amps I have used.
I know that for desktop computers there are quieter fans available with blades that are shaped to be more efficient and the speed can be reduced to make the fan quieter...
Hey all!! Just wanted to take a second to recognize the great achievement(s) of @father of fires. He built the MBD1, a mosfet bass distortion and is continuing to excite and impress me. I gotta tell you guys that don't know by now, for me, the MBD1 changed it all. I have tried a lot of dirt...
I've never really used a compressor pedal, either for guitar or bass, but maybe that's because the only comp I've ever had is an Arion SCO, which was a really cheap pedal from the 80's About all I've ever been able to get out it is an increase in line noise and pick clicking that makes a...
I have a wonderful Eden WT800 Model A. I bought it on Reverb.com. The sound of this thing is incredible!! It's my 3rd Eden head. My first was a 400WT, the second is 260WT and I recently got the 800. All three are the best sounding bass amps I've heard. Anyway, this past summer my 800WT kept...
A few years ago I had an Aguilar TH350. Great amp, but the fan operation was odd. The fan would come on after about 20 minutes even is the amp was being used at very low volume or even just idling.
I would assume that the amp would get hotter the harder it is driven and at low volume it would...
Hi,
First of all, I'd like to say hi to everybody as this is my first post here.
I'm thinking of buying a Markbass Little Ninja amp. I'd like to use it also at home for studing and recording, connected via XLR out to an audio interface for the PC, without cab.
Any of you, who have this head...
I just received my Hartke KB15 and I absolutely love it, but the fan seems to be way too loud. I've read that Hartke amps have loud fans, but this is kinda annoying. Does anybody know if this is normal?
Hi.. I recently picked a Fender Bassman 100t and I'm wondering if anyone else who owns one can tell me if the fan is thermal, comes on as it hits a certain internal temp,or is it mechanical, comes on when amp is powered up.. Thanks Mark

Besides their Bella '62, which is my take for the nicest looking Jazz creation ever, the bolt-on Isabella singlecut has the perfect headstock that flows really well with the body (bascially a Fenderish style). This kind of singlecut, I'd buy...
I have recently purchased a Tech 21 VT Bass 500. An excellent amp head that pretty well comes close to emulating some of the classic amps of the past. However, I am sending it back. It makes fan noise that is very loud and bothersome. It starts out decent but in a matter of minutes it sounds...
really digging my 800 but the fan runs continuously and never seems to shut off. And it ain't exactly quiet. Not crazy loud but louder than most heads I've had. Loud enough to annoy me.
What's your experience ? Is this considered normal behavior?
