Amps with (almost) no fan noise

I'm using a EDEN WTX-264 right now, with two EX110 cabinets. Soundwise I like the amp a lot. But in my small room the fan gets annoying. Especially when playing along with with Spotify music on low volumes.

Are there any fanless amps? Preferably within the friendly price range of the WTX-264.

How much Gain are you using? I have a WT800 and my fan rarely comes on when i set the gain up properly (via David’s suggestion of setting it to where the lowest note starts setting off the clip light, then dial it back a notch). I agree those Eden fans are loud when they’re on, but it shouldn’t be something that’s constant

The WTX-264 is n't of the variable type. It's always on.

The two amp heads I like to use most for quiet/acoustic music are my Ampeg PF20t and Quilter 101 Mini. They are 20w and 100w respectively, and both are totally fanless. I think I paid about $400 used for the Ampeg and $150 used for the Quilter. If you are planning to do any recording, the Ampeg has a couple of very nice built-in DI's.

I'm also a big Acoustic Image fan, but that's starting to get out of your price range (and maybe doesn't fit your tonal goals).

Ahh, now reading a bit more about those amps i see that. That’s unfortunate, cause the Eden tone is so good, but the fans are noisy.

I have a Mesa WD800 and D800+. Both amps have fans, but they are pretty much undetectable in my studio space.
Of course, an amp that has no fan will be the quietest ... at least mechanically.

Just to be clear are you talking about replacing the Eden or are you asking about practice amps?

The least expensive solution is to install a switch to kill the fan. That’s about as simple a mod as there is.

I'm looking for an amp to use both on stage and in my homestudio. Can it damage the amp if I put a switch in the fan circuit?

I have the 800 and its fan is not noticeable unless you put your ear at the hole and then you are mostly hearing the woosh of air going in your ear canal. For your studio or on stage it has one of the best DI's ever made so you can go straight to the mixer and have great quite and clean bass. There is a Pre EQ or Post EQ on the DI out so you can have an unaffected signal with Pre or use the tone controls to adjust you sound to how you want with the Post setting. No need to mic up your speaker, unless you want to.

They also make a combo with a 1x10 if you would like to upgrade your cab at the same time.

If I'm really playing that quietly, I'll use my GK or Fender combo, neither of which has a fan

Tech 21 VT Bass 200 combo has no fan, even play more than 3 hours, the real panel still in room temperature condition.

If i recall correctly, GK MB150s doesn't have any fan, and if it does, it is dead silent for sure. I can see it as a firs choice for all nitpicking, sound quality, moderate volume demands. On the other hand, if something louder is needed, the fan will remain unnoticeable anyway.

My Reiner Saturn V (1200 watts, 2 ohm capable) has no fan. It’s completely silent, kind of eerie actually. It also sounds amazing. Not cheap, but so worth it.
