So the cooling fans on my Hartke LH1000 had started making quite a bit of noise. Over time it kept getting louder. My band was scheduled to do some recording and I wanted to get the noise fixed to bring it to the studio with me.
After doing some reading and poking around the internet I found some fans on Amazon that looked OK. It should be noted- 12V fans will not work. You need to find 24V fans which are not readily available at computer stores but are easy enough to find online.
There are 2 small fans and 1 big fan. The original small fans are probably 60x60x10mm. The small fans I bought were 60x60x15mm but the screws holding the fans in are long enough for these fans to work. I also bought a 80x80x25mm fan to replace the larger fan but didn't end up using it.
Installation of the two small fans was straightforward enough. I took my time and was able to re-use the OEM ends on the fan wires with a little bit of finesse. I'm not sure what you would do if you broke one of these connectors as they don't look like a standard size to me.
I got the new fans in, wired up, replace the zip ties that were used to hold the wires neatly in place and screwed the lid back on.
The amp is now almost dead silent. Fantastic! It's been about 2 months and maybe 5 or 6 gigs since and everything is working great still. To anyone with one of these amps out there I highly recommend doing the replacement if you're having fan noise issues. If you want to have a tech do the repair you will probably still have to buy the fans yourself (what I was told by two local techs I called).
