Do you Find it Difficult playing without a drummer?

I've played drumerless a few times. My advice: Dial in a fatter tone than usual , keep it simple and count at all times. Patting the strings on upbeats and where a snare would be can help, but don't overdo it. Don't slap.

    Action too high.

I have that bridge on a yamaha rbx-270j. The plate is a bit thicker than stock, but the height difference comes mainly from the barrel which has about 2mm more in diameter(~1 cm total diameter), than the previous one . The barrel width is the same though(19mm) , so you could swap in a normal...

wait until after the chord changes to play?

Your singer needs to learn the form of the song. If it's a mistake you should try to cover it, in a live situation, but remember that a late transition still has to be on the beat. Now if it's not a mistake and/or it happens regularly then you should confront your singer and tell him to either...

New Acoustic Bass guitar the Shortbass One! Small, LOUD!

Well, if the mic is with the camera, then the ukeleles are mostly pointed away, while the bass has its soundhole pointed towards it (more or less). Depending on the mic type, this could make a world of difference. There is also this clip: where there is a comparison to an ABG, and the...

    Songs to learn pick with.

Prelude in G major from Bach's cello suites. I used it when I recently got an ABG and wanted to play it with a pick and it was enough on it's own to get me to a decent level of pick playing.

Boiling your Bass Strings: bringing it back for 2013

I've boiled countless sets through the years and normally I'd say boil them, but if you have an audition in 3 days and this is the only set you have, it's better that you find some money (borrow form a friend maybe?) and buy new ones. The reason is that 3 days before a gig is a bad time for...

    Cheap Unique Bass

Are you in Europe by any chance? Check out this guy: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] I particularly like the blue precision : [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and the neck has the same pattern , too, which I think looks cool: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Also , this looks...

Open string, or fretted 5th which do you prefer?

Most of the time I don't think about it at all and play whatever requires less motion. As complexity of a song goes up though, my preference starts gravitating towards fretted notes. That's mostly because it seems that open string notes interfere with my memorization process.

tc new looper pedal (polytune mini size)

Nice, but at that money you can probably get a Jamman Solo at ebay. Also, lol at the video: "We've taken away all the unecessary features... drum machines , Sd card slots,..." And keeps on going about how they removed , stripped , etc. Yeah ,they first built a super pedal and then strip it...

    Egotistical Guitarists Anyone?

Sometimes guitarists don't know what they hear. I've had a few experiences where there was too much bass overall, but it wasn't coming from me (alone). Heavily overdriven guitars produce subharmonics that add boominess to the sound and equalizers with boosted lows make it even worse. So if a...

Interesting. When you say lemon, you mean lemon oil or just plain lemon?

    Neccesity of strap locks?

Out of topic, but : Same guy that steals picks, probably? A ten year old leather strap, shortened to my preference, that had only sentimental value and some "decorative stitches" on it... I forgot it on a university studio. It's the most frequented studio in town, but there is supposedly...

    Neccesity of strap locks?

I used to have them for many years on my primary bass. I stopped using them about 9-10 months ago, after the strap that had them on was stolen. Pros: They provide a sense of security and freedom of motion. I've never had a bass fall to the ground without them, but I've caught it mid-air...

Boiling your Bass Strings: bringing it back for 2013

More like 20€ around here. And, really, why do you feel like insulting people that are on a completely different financial situation than you, by telling them what they should or shouldn't do ? Or claiming that what is common practice by some, based on their experience over the matter, is the...
