Double Bass KK Baby Bass String Buzz

I recently acquired a relatively unplayed KK Traditional Model Bass from 2018. The Bass is in beautiful shape and was played only for 20 mins before sitting in the case u til I purchased it 2 weeks ago. I’m noticing however that this thing has some pretty nasty string buzz and was wondering if...

    Double Bass Bridge/Pickup Combo

This is something I’ll definitely have to try. I’m assuming that when you did this you just went ahead and used a regular 3/4 sized bridge?

    Double Bass Bridge/Pickup Combo

Wow, this is interesting as well! Did you have any problems regarding the width of the bridge in relation to the width of the fingerboard? I’d be interested to try this on my ampeg, but I’m worried the fingerboard is too thin! Also, what do you think is the science behind this? Does the bigger...

    Double Bass Bridge/Pickup Combo

Hi all, After doing some recent reading I’ve noticed there to be some discussion regarding bridges and how they relate to pickups on EUBs. Specifically I’ve seen talk in the past of how the size of a bridge will usually impact the sound of a pickup. For instance at this time I’ve been...

    Double Bass Baby Bass megathread

I’m currently experimenting with a KK Bass Max on the E side of a wood bridge to try and get a tone that’ll allow me to use this bass in jazz settings. Mostly for reference I’m shooting for the 70s/80s Ron Carter/Buster Williams tone. So far I’m getting a pretty decent sound using a fishman...

Double Bass Stagg HDB-200 Interference Issue

Hello, I am having a very peculiar issue with my recently purchased used Stagg HDB-200. Strangely, my playing is interrupted by a sound that is very similar in nature to the noise made when bringing a phone too close to a TV. It only lasts maybe a minute and has a ticking nature to it. Has...

    Noob Setup Question Regarding Action

So I went ahead and did a few things. First, my goal was to just get the thing playable so I decided to attack the bridge. Naturally the oxidation in the saddle screws was just enough that after getting a few good turns out of them they stripped immediately and went shot. The bridge has been...

    Noob Setup Question Regarding Action

Hey everyone, So I recently purchased a brand new Geddy Lee neck and went ahead and married it tonight to my ‘99 jazz body. The last neck that it saw was a fretless and I haven’t messed with the bridge at all since as I won’t have access to my hex key set until this weekend. After joining the...

The Curious Case of the Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius Pickups

I know this might be a stretch to ask but would you possibly be able to provide me with a basic sketch of how the pig tail wiring should look? I'm quite novice at this and I really want to try and get it right the first time. I really appreciate all your help thus far.

The Curious Case of the Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius Pickups

Understood. Do you think it could also be a possibility that they chose to solder the neck pickup ground somewhere else other than the first pot? That's the only solder joint that I can't seem to locate.

The Curious Case of the Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius Pickups

I can tell the long wire on the third pot is definitely the bridge ground. Could it possibly be that these pickups utilized a control shield that the long wire on the second pot and possibly the brass shields were soldered to?

The Curious Case of the Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius Pickups

When you say ground plates do you mean the copper looking plates beneath the pickup? Also I thought that you solder the regular pickup ground wire to the back of the pots. Do you join both the ground plate and pickup ground wire together in a solder?

The Curious Case of the Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius Pickups

I’ll go ahead and begin by saying that I’ve included pictures below of what I received when I bought the pickups. To sum it up, I recently purchased a set of the Fender Custom Shop Jaco Pastorius pickups and when I received them I was surprised to see that the seller had cut the wires. Don’t...
