McCartney: Film proves Beatles breakup was not his fault

Harrison echoed this sentiment on The Dick Cavett show in 1971. Essentially saying the breakup allowed them all to individually release wonderful music that otherwise would never be heard if they'd continued. While I don't believe any of their solo projects came close to the quality of The...

McCartney: Film proves Beatles breakup was not his fault

From what I've read: McCartney was such a perfectionist in the studio and would spend days repeating attempts to track. The other three would get really frustrated with the process. So when the time came to do a Harrison or Lennon song it was like a breath of fresh air.

Have you ever played guitar? Christ it's boring... Especially lead. I want to dig in and feel the rhythm.

    Movies About Bassists or Bass

Brian Wilson biopic 'Love and Mercy' starring John Cusack and Paul Dano. Not so much about his playing bass live but about two periods of his life: Writing 'Pet Sounds' and being a patient under Eugene Landy in the 80s and meeting his future wife.

    Home Recording

Bjork recorded many albums using a Shure SM58. She once had a custom made Neumann and decided to go back to the SM58. If it's good enough for her...? I'd also recommend Prosonus Studio One as a DAW. Would be willing to give you 1 of the 5 activations I have, if you want it? I have the full...

    Your Takeaways from TB

Coming from secular UK I find the frequency of Christian gospel gigs and discussions both heart-warming and intriguing (like learning about a different culture). Flatwounds... I was ignorant to these for many years. Maybe all my basses should have flatwounds? My biggest takeaway is an example...

    Tone

Listen to some isolated bass tracks from hugely popular songs and you'll realise they sound like rubbish alone. Mid boosted bass eq sounds worse by itself (imo) compared mid cut eq BUT boosted low mid will generally sound good in the mix. I tend to have everything flat except a small to...

    Recommend me a bass!

P bass with tone control. Try out a range of strings. If a PJ is more to your liking I cannot recommend the G&L SB-2 enough. Either Tribute or USA. Fantastic basses. And don't let the lack of tone control put you off. Simplicity is a good thing (K.I.S.S.)

Have you ever been embarrassed because of an instrument a bandmate is playing?

Embarressed to say, Chinese Squier Strat. Until I played it... surprising quality guitar.

Is it just me or do P Basses seem to have more comfortable action than Jazz Basses?

When fretting my fingers will occasionally touch the fretboard. I find touching a rosewood board more comfortable than touching maple. Doesn't effect my playing however...
