Band says NO Amp or Cab needed.

Hey folks, seeing that the thread went somewhat towards the "what is the PA strategy?" question over the last page or so, I wanted to go back to the initial "what are my options for my bass setup?" question... I think there are arguments pro and con for both using physical amps+cabs versus...

    Straplocks and String choices

Loxx on both of my basses, incredibly easy to install and use. Standard D'Addario XL nickel roundwound on the Jazz Bass, stock Elixir on the Ibanez (don't know yet what I'll switch to or, in fact, if I will switch). Either way, .45-.105 all around

    strap and strap lock

Same for me, +2 even 'cause I have them on both of my basses. Incredibly easy to use, install and more often than not cheaper than the competition!

Zoom B3 As Preamp Part 2

Thanks for the best wishes, honestly I might really have had a lemon mother board. Charlie, your link goes to the 15 inch version, your picture suggests the 13 inch. That works out well, does it? It's a great idea and much less clunky than a case!

Zoom B3 As Preamp Part 2

Hi folks! I am going to grab a reference to an earlier post of mine in the previous (50+ pages) thread. In that I was explaining that I was having trouble with my B3 due to two things: (1) The output level of the XLR output was freakingly high (aka line level) (2) The XLR output was incredibly...

    Zoom B3 As Preamp

Hi all, I wanted to reflect on the very extensive research given by ticol07 - Thanks for the big effort, very very valuable information. I do, however, want to bring a few things to mind with regard to the amp and cab modeling in any device available today: they are NOT simply EQ curves! There...

    Zoom B3 As Preamp

OK, the Ibanez puts out about 8dB more than the Fender, and the Active/Passive switch only changes Impedance, it leaves the levels untouched. I realized I do not have any XLR cables at home right now (major band GAS has inhaled all spare cables) so I have only been able to verify everything...

    Zoom B3 As Preamp

This was also a bit of my disappointment last night - especially since everything else seems to be very flexible in terms of configuration, just look at the USB config page... Bummer they didn't create an "XLR out" page... :hmm: Rock on!

    Zoom B3 As Preamp

Big Up to CharlieC and LowLife350! Rest assured, I did go through the entire chain of levels (Patch, Total, Global) and the active/passive aspect. Ironically, the "pre" level was also way too high. And that one, I cannot influence with any settings. What I did when initially setting the unit up...

    Zoom B3 As Preamp

Greetings from the BASS-ment! I have thoroughly enjoyed the B3 for the past ten months and have played my American Jazz Bass through it every week during rehearsals (alternative rock cover stuff and some of our own stuff) and a few gigs. My prior prized (mainly MXR) pedal board is now living a...

    New MXR pedals

Happy new year, folks! I have been an active reader but a rare contributor to the talkbass world. I feel the need to change that right about now. Seeing the new line-up from MXR kickstarted this mindset so I'd like to share my interpretation of a useful pedalboard for my purposes which target...
