First nitro bass: an extra-worn used JMJ Mustang. Worth repairing nitro damage?

That's called natural wear and tear, whether through your own blood, sweat and effort or environmental. If you're going to worry about that, don't own a nitro-finished bass. :) I take care of my nitro finishes but do not sweat it when they get nicked, worn, scratched or otherwise. It's part of...

    Thinnest 6 string bass bridge

How about taking those bridge saddles to a machine shop and ask them to shave a small amount (1/32” ?) off the bottom of the offending saddles?

    What flatwounds are these?

But the OP said they are similar tension to 105 round wounds. IME, Labella LTF’s were like floppy noodles compared to round wounds or anything else. My bet would be a diff unidentified string.

Really Miscellaneous: Ring Camera Doorbell Question

Yeah, what @ahbass2500 said. The Chime is what you want. You will then control both devices from your Ring app.

Suhr Classic J vs. AVRI 2

Build quality: Suhr. Hands down. If there's something calling to you about the AVRI, figure out what that is and maybe apply it to the bass you already love? Tuners can be swapped out. Pickups can be swapped out.

    New 2x12 or add a 15?

The second S15 for the win.

Amplification suggestions. What amp or amp/cab do you play?

Another vote for the WD-800 here! But I also have a GK Legacy 800 for when I want the GK-flavor.

Paging owners of both 2 EQ and 3 EQ StingRays...

I never found that the 3-band sounded exactly like what I wanted to hear. The 2-band was the magic, for me at least.

1980 Hamer Standard 4 String Bass. Serial Number 0373

Excellent! I love old Hamers. Got one myself... a shorty 8-string.

    Does this sound too wooly?

Nope.... sounds great to me. The wooliness *and* the tone level sound perfect for the feel of that music. Of course, everyone will have a different opinion and yours matters the most. But I think you've done great so if you are questioning your choice, know that you've got me as a fan.

EB Cobalt Flats, which gauge has better balance? 45-100 or 45-105?

I’ve used both extensively and ultimately landed on .45 - .100 as my preference for balance. They otherwise sound the same to my ear.

Jackson Browne live performance in 1979

Call out for David Lindley who I was privileged to see play live in a little club in Ventura, CA, circa 1987-88. Supremely talented. His El Rayo-X album is still a cult favorite, for me at least.

Got a truck… Gear transport questions

Truck bed inappropriate in a hard flight case? No. Truck bed the best option when you've got a large back seat in the Ridgeline? No. And by keeping them in the cab you don't need a big bulky flight case -- a mono bag will do.

How to Choose a Bass Guitar on a Budget

I second the notion of buying used. And take your time to find the bass that feels good to you.
