    Your light-bulb moment

Reading an interview with Charlie Haden years ago in which he said that when he plays the bass he wants to give people the feeling they are sat in front of a roaring log fire or stood amongst giant trees in a forest and I immediately thought "Yes, that's exactly it". Also when I switched to...

    Albums that you consider "perfect"...

Great thread, and my list compared to the ones I did for "ten most essential bass albums" and "ten essential bass tracks" couldn't be more different. As these albums are in my opinion perfect ie not a dud track on them, they must therefore be my favourite albums of all time (until someone starts...

TI Flats - Are these made for mice?

I must be going mad as I switched from roundwounds to TI flats on my Squier Musuicmaster a couple of years ago and liked the fact that there was more tension on the strings.

He also said it was previously used in Little Richards and James Browns bands. I've seen old clips of Little Richard with that bass being used, who was...

Fred played the SSB on Marquee Moon and the reunion album. Seen some pics of him recently playing a hollow-body shortie, possibly a Harmony.

    Larry "the mole" Taylor

Thanks everyone, I'll keep searching using your clues. I really like the footage of him playing at Monterey and Woodstock, he just looks like he's having a blast.

    Larry "the mole" Taylor

Absolutely love his playing with Canned Heat, can't find an interview with him anywhere on the net. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Bassists you love with tones that you would hate to have

Chris Wood (Medeski, Martin and Wood) is probably my favourite player around at the moment but his electric tone just doesn't do it for me the same way his upright does. Methinks the man doth need some flats.
