    I use Squier VM Jazz 5 too. I feel this bass is awesome and versetile. My only suggestion is you have to try to switch your strings with d'addario half-round. ;)

    I think you can, but it won't be optimum. The sound will be moody I guess. For better sound quality result, I suggest you to use preamp specifically designed for acoustic guitar such as zoom A3.
