The Moollon Classic P is an insanely cool bass for rock. The pickup is different, a lot more aggressive, gritty, and modern sounding. The Fender Jazz for rock is not to be overlooked. Or grab up one of the 5,000,000 Gibson EB-0's that float around for cheap.

Scroll up and check my Memphis P bass posted a few days ago, very similar to this one. Mine has a plywood body. I just played a session with it yesterday, and it sounds amazing - really a kick ass P bass. (Mine - can't vouch for this one.)
