Double Bass Rattle in Tuning Peg

Been playing my back up DB for outdoor gigs. Its developed a bit of a rattle on the d-string tuner. Ive tightened down all the screws. Any ideas on a quick and easy DIY fix?

Double Bass Help Using DB with Zoom

Thank billiard. I’ve got a USB mic like this I tried. I also have an audio interface somewhere I used for remote jam sessions during peak Covid. Allowed me to connect my Schoeps. Of course the live jam session had their own issues. This case it is simply lessons so I’ll test that today.

Double Bass Help Using DB with Zoom

Thanks Ric- yes he was in musician mode as well. I’ve got a few audio engineer friends I can ask as well and really leaning towards the mic filtering out the low end.

Double Bass Help Using DB with Zoom

Hi everyone. I’m struggling to get my DB to come through on a Zoom call. I’m using either a Win10 PC or a Mac mini M1, or an iPhone X. All allow voice and DB is either very faint or not there at all. Ive gone into Zoom settings, selected audio, selected original sound for musicians, checked...

Double Bass Blending Pick Up and Mic -workarounds for single channel amps

I have a 2 channel Clarus which I bought for blending. It has 48vt phantom power. Realist Lifeline and Schoeps MK4. Mic is good enough without blending for my gigs and a few years ago I did try blending a lot. Dhergert experience sounds the same as what I had. If you need the volume Clarus...

    Double Bass Small Cab suggestions?

I play lots of very tight places and use a MAS 28 which is a little more narrow than my Genzler 112. I prefer the sound of the Genzler and have been thinking the 110 may be a very good way to try next.

Double Bass Great studio mics for DB

I also thought the mk41 would be better suited for the studio and was surprised. I set up behind a small wall baffle with drums and piano in the same room. As I recall mk4 had less bleed coming in the room.

Double Bass Clean Power Amp for Pre

Thanks Ric - I assume the 700 has tons of headroom. Do you think the 500 would have enough?

Double Bass Clean Power Amp for Pre

I’m thinking about moving to a Grace Pre to go with my cabs Genzler 12-3 8 ohm or MAS 2-8 4 ohm. Anyone using a power amp instead of powered speakers for preamp? Thoughts on how clean Jules M Series, Baby or GSS Summo, Demeter Minne 800, other?

Double Bass Great studio mics for DB

I’ve been using 3 mics; AEA R-84, AKG C14-ULS, and Schoeps CMC1 MK4. Trio format all in the same room with a baffle. I also have the MK41 others mention and find it better suited for quiet live settings. MK4 is much better at resisting bleed from others and also delivers a great tone. I’ll...

Double Bass What’s hip today for live jazz in small venues?

We do this all the time. It can be fun and frequently the pop tunes have few chords so you can work in all sorts of substitutes or go modal. I also like taking these to different time signatures to keep it interesting.

Double Bass What’s hip today for live jazz in small venues?

I play this region (Philly to DC) several times a week. Seems to be a fair amount of work for standards mixed in with some improvised music in Restraunt and pubs. Sometimes you do have to drive a bit. Small groups from duo to quartets. Piano, percussion, drums, horn, guitar, and sometimes add...
