The only time I've ever broken a piezo (Lifeline) was accidentally bending it taking it off a bass. There shouldn't be that much pressure on the KNA DB-1 anyway, just enough to hold it firmly in place. Leave it in and don't sweat it!

The price is very cheap for a carved German bass. The sound post crack would scare me away just personally regardless of the price. Sometimes the scale on these old german basses is pretty long, so play it long enough to make sure it seems comfortable to you.
