What are you actually practising after x years?

Don't mean to be flippant, but still the most valuable practice for me is to listen and lock with the kick. Everything else is secondary.

Sting & Peter Gabriel - Rock Paper Scissors tour

Saw this show last night in Calgary. The performance: awesome. The band(s): killer. The visuals: wild. The sound: horrid. I was pumped to see two bass players I love, Sting and Tony Levin. But they might as well have left their basses backstage and played air guitar with brooms. Everything...

Stripped back sound for acoustic gig - help!

Agreed, your regular bass/rig will sit just fine. This was a with a Jazz and Traynor 300 watt combo barely turned up.

So, How Much Of This Was Canned?

I'm not qualified to comment on how much of this is live, but wow do I ever want it to be...

In-ears messing things up for the rest of the band?

Not sure, definitely a head-scratcher. But we'll try again and see what happens.

In-ears messing things up for the rest of the band?

Not sure I'd describe my playing as "clinical..." But I can see this would change dynamics.

In-ears messing things up for the rest of the band?

We'll definitely be talking more about it as he wanted to figure it out too. I wonder if part of the problem was that I was having trouble regulating the volume from the amp since the in-ears isolate fairly well, and as a result I was just too darn loud. Anyways, good to know this isn't a...

In-ears messing things up for the rest of the band?

I was the only one with in-ears, and I still had an amp going as well. Drummer was hearing me through the amp, I was right beside him. I definitely trust his judgement, he's a long-time pro.

In-ears messing things up for the rest of the band?

OK, I need a sanity check, I’ve fiddled around with in-ears a few times in the past, taking an aux feed from the board and running it into a little mixer to combine with the direct out of my VT Bass Deluxe. I always thought it worked quite well but it’s always been a bit of an experiment. I’m...

    Pedaltrain MINIs United Again!

The idea of the Volto sounds great, I'd love one less cable. But I know I'd forget to charge it. Can you play while charging?

    Pedaltrain MINIs United Again!

Here's mine at the moment. Spent way too much time trying to build something and finally just bought one...way better! The cheap path cables need to be replaced eventually, but I had them around and they work fine. The CS-3 has to go, I don't like it at all for bass. I love the VT-Bass Deluxe...

    Blackstar ID:Core Beam

I need to stop watching youtube videos from NAMM... What do you think of this unit? I must admit, the thought of a compact (apparently) do-everything amp that my wife would let me leave in the den for practise is very appealing.

Help Me Choose: Ibanez SR1205E or Warwick Pro Series Corvette Bubinga 5?

I can't speak to exactly what you're looking at, but I have a 4-string corvette pro (ash, not bubinga). I really, really love this bass. I was seriously looking at the SR1200 as well. The Nordstrand pickups really sounded nice on the two I tried out. I also like the SR necks...they make me feel...
