Hey guys. Why do custom bass builders ask you what tuning you are going to use on the bass (if it's multiscale) before they build it for you? And if you decide on one and later change your mind, will multiscale cause problems?

Anyone tune their 8 like this and what are the benefits to it over the standard?

ADGCFBbEbAb instead of the usual F#1 E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4 for an 8 stringer?

Forgot to mention, at the moment its tuned in inverted 5ths at BEADGC on the bass side and 4ths at C# F# B E A D on the melody.
