What’s the cheapest bass you’ve been/are amazed with?

walked into a Long and Mcquade last year and saw a vintage modified jazz bass in sunburst. It was so playable and had that classic jazz bass sound. It was $250 Canadian (maybe 200 US) so I bought it on the spot. Threw on some chrome flats and it gets me to funk and soul classic jazz lines all...

No longer available Warwick Thumb Bass 5 NT 1998

Well, it's just hanging on the wall. Looks like I'd rather it be played than be an art piece, back up for sale! :)

beginner bass player, not sure which bass to get.

IMO if you are starting bass, buy a classic bass with full size frets, I bought a precision (G&L Legacy) when I was starting out, but a cheap squire P will do. I started in Metal and hard rock before gravitating funk and soul once I got hooked on bass, and after a steady diet of Led Zep...

Club Bergantino! Let's See Those Rigs!

I’m sort of in the same boat, I have the ht/ex stack with a subway D800, with a loud drummer and guitarist. I was driving it with a 500watt markbass head and found it a little shy, but the D800’s 800 watts seem to make a difference, I would like to add another cab below for some extra low end...

Does a 4-string bass become obsolete after picking up a 5-string?

In my experience, no, but probably depends on the bass, and how it is set up. Before I bought a 5, I strung my P bass (G&L) BEAD. I was in love with the low notes. Once I moved to a five string (Stingray5) the main differences were: 5 string had tighter string spacing - making it play easier 5...

Does a 4-string bass become obsolete after picking up a 5-string?

The short answer is no... but in my case (perhaps in many cases) once I moved to five, it became my main player and I considered selling my four to get another fiver. After playing mainly 5 and then going back to four, I noticed the four was harder to play (not harder to practice on though)...

Do wheels on a cab affect sound ?

I used to have a Genz Benz Uber 410 that even though it was a light 70lbs, I added some big 3 or 4" casters for ease of movement. Basically I'd stack the rest of my gear on top and roll into the gig. I noticed though, as did other bass players who heard me play live, that my tone was less boomy...

E string oscillates past 5th fret on Squier VM Jazz... Why?

Yes, will lower the pickup on the bass side (E string) and see if that fixes it, otherwise I'll start troubleshooting... Cheers!

E string oscillates past 5th fret on Squier VM Jazz... Why?

I was wondering about whether the frets needed to be filed... Was considering trying this out, not sure if someone does that in my town... Will try your suggestions though, thank you!

E string oscillates past 5th fret on Squier VM Jazz... Why?

Oh wow, didn't even think of that, ok, will try that out, thanks! I'll update with results :)

E string oscillates past 5th fret on Squier VM Jazz... Why?

I have a sunburst vm jazz bass that I picked up for peanuts a while ago, loved the playability and tone in-store, however I have noticed a weird oscillating thing that happens to held/sustained notes past the 5th fret on the E string. It's like the note warbles in and out of tune. No other...

@Worldeeeter how did you like the sound difference of the hdn212 compared to the ht/ex112 stack? I have the ht/ex stack with a subway which sounds incredible in my 3 piece rock band with loud drums. The berg 212s (hd, hdn, or cn) appeal to me for the convenience factor, but tone is still king...
