Is there a 5 string whose B actually matches the other strings?

You could try a little compression to even out all the strings..also a balanced set of strings might help. Equal tension might give you a better chance at having a low B that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Good luck and hope this serves you well.

    New Hartke, New Problems......

I wasn't pleased with LH1000 and 4x10 combo...Unless you're using D.I. I feel like the single cab alone doesn't have enough power...at louder voulmes I noticed speakers starting to break up and sound like poo...instead of ordering another 4x10...I returned the cab and instead found a used Ampeg...

    Using One Finger

I lead with my middle finger as well and have no problem playing fast tempo with two fingers..granted I've been playing that way for 15 years. I play metal so it always requires me to keep up with the others. At times I use one finger for certain parts..it helps me keep a steady rhythm..almost...

    New Hartke, New Problems......

I purchased the Hydrive 410 recently and the speakers made the same noise as described above. Needless to say after countless hours of trying to solve the problem I gave up and returned the cab.

Getting my son a bass. He's left handed. Respected teacher says teach him rightie.

I'm a lefty that plays lefty and the only downside to this is significantly less options for purchasing a bass. Other than that there really is no downside.

How do I get this clanky, grindy metallic sound?

I too love the sound you mentioned. I own both Sansamp RBI and Hartke Bass Attack pedal..both help give me that percussive string sound similar to a chime. Also, strings play a part in it. I play Kalium Steel strings and they shine like no other and last much longer from my experience. I would...

I'm staying on roots most of the time when playing live?

I read some people say "keep it simple" & others "simple sucks" its hard to find the happy medium ground. I would say go with what you feel. Listening to your musical intuition will serve you right most of the time.

Plugging a SansAmp pedal directly into the poweramp, bypassing the preamp

I run the Sansamp RBI rackmount through the effects loop on my amp and it does the exact same thing...bypasses the pre amp disabling all front knobs. I play Metal so I really love the aggressive tone I get from the Sansamp. I use The Fridge Ampeg 8X10 which really has some serious balls combined...

For Sale Lace Alumitone 5 string pickup NIB

I just recently converted my Schecter Hellraiser four and five string to Lace Bass Bar pick ups. I removed the entire pre amp section out of the bass since I wouldn't need it anymore. It made the bass lighter and no need for 9 volts! You do have the option of leaving the pre amp in but I have no...

    Another Hartke Question

Interesting, a friend of mine blew his LH1000 running it in bridge mode with a standard cable. Either way I wouldn't risk seeing as the manual calls for that set up.

    Another Hartke Question

If you run it in bridge mode (which is required when running a single cabinet 4 or 8ohms) then I would suggest you run it with a speakon cable or you can risk damaging your entire rig. All of this information is available in the manual which I would suggest a read over. Good luck!
