GK MB115 (1st gen) vs GK MB115-II (current gen)? Which one is better?

Hey, I've owned the first gen MB115 for nearly three years. Haven't really fallen in love with it. Horn hisses too loudly to use. Not enough volume for rock/jazz with drums. Mine just left on a warranty trip from Fla to NYC because it quit working. That said, if you can pick up a used MB115 for...

feedback on combo's TC BG 250 vs GK mb115

I've owned the GK MB115 for almost three years. I've never really fallen in love with it. The horn hisses, so I can't use it. I'm told this is common. Why build it if it can't be used? The tone - it's all over the place. I've never really found a punchy or warm tone that I consistently like. And...

    Tab Request Jazzman Carole King

Hello out there... Could someone please help me out and give me some tabs or help on playing jazzman? There are several nice videos that show her bass player, Russ Kunkel, and I've been able to copy most, but not all of his riffs. Particulary need the riff for the part where the music steps...

New chap, need gigging bass amp help

Hello .. I play in exactly the same type of band as you. Also, "old school" where only vocals go through PA. I have the GKMB 115 and I can definitely tell you it is not loud enough. Best try the MB212, with the 500 watts. I've had the MB115 for over a year, and it's just definitely not...

    SOLD FS: Gallien Krueger 700RB-ll

That doesn't look like the other Mark II's. Isn't it just a regular 700RB?

Help!!! I need help in my search for cheap loud quality tone!!!!

I own that amp for a year now. It has limits, one is that it is not loud enough for my six-piece variety band. Doubt it will be loud enough for a punk band, unless you can DI or Mic it into the PA, then it will be fine. Tone-wise, it can deliver lots of great tones. Really a 250-watt head is not...

    Orange or Gallien-Krueger?

I've had the GK MB115 for a year. I've used it for hundreds of hours, in rehearsals and gigs. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. It's not loud enough for a big band (I'm in a six piece), the tweeter hisses so I can't use it. And GK customer service has not bothered to return even one phone...

    GK MB115 questions

Thanks very much. I've tried your settings, along with contour off (which I suspected was my problem all along) and now the amp has a decent tone. Horn still buzzes a little, though.

    Dean Edge 4??

I've owned a beautiful quilted maple Dean Ege Q4 bass for 11 years. It's a very nice instrument. EMG hz 35 passive pickups with a preamp built in. Great tone. No problems, Plays and looks great. Paid about $350 for it brand new. I'd recommend it. Only thing was I had to have it set up (...

    GK MB115 questions

Thanks Will33 I've been experimenting with the controls as you said and am closing in on my sound. I didn't realize the 12 oclock position was the "no effect" . I thought that was 50 percent effect, so your comments have been extremely helpful. J

    GK MB115 potential problems...

I have to agree. I was in a duo and it was fine. In a six piece band, with horns and keyboards, it rattles the grate and the volume just aint there.

    GK MB115 questions

I've had this GK MB115 about a year. I need to understand it better. It's too complicated for me. For example, the "Low Mid" dial states the following: "Boost and cut at 250Hz. A “Q optimized” band pass type, effects the main body of your sound..." Can someone please explain this to me...
