Dean Edge 4??

I have the fretless version. Nice neck, lightweight and comfortable to play, nice tone, specially on bass frequencies. Very well finished (mine is sunburst). If you are thinking to get one, It is definetely worth the try.
I had a Dean Edge 4 for a very short while. Actually, it wasn't mine - it belonged to a friend of a friend, who wanted me to do a refinish.
Anyway, I played it a few times before I took it apart. It wasn't a bad bass. The body shape and overall style weren't really my cup of tea, but it played fine and sounded ok. The neck seemed really wide at the nut to me, although the neck itself was pretty smooth and felt nice.
IIRC, the newer models are up in the $350 range, which puts them in Classic Vibe territory. I haven't seen and/or played many Deans, so I can't comment on their overall quality control. I've heard both good and bad, though.

I have played the Edge and the body has a good feel to it. But it depends on the year of the bass because unfortunately, Dean started to "cheapen" their quality over the last couple of years. If you buy a USA made Dean then you are getting a very good quality and deal.
Oh and the "best" of the import Dean Edge is the PRO. Still decent and good sound.

Pardon the cliche, but great bang for the buck, IMO. Good fit/finish, good tone, good balance, good neck. A little surprised by the nut width comment though, as mine is the thinnest nut I've encountered (1 7/16").
I've owned a beautiful quilted maple Dean Ege Q4 bass for 11 years. It's a very nice instrument. EMG hz 35 passive pickups with a preamp built in. Great tone. No problems, Plays and looks great. Paid about $350 for it brand new. I'd recommend it. Only thing was I had to have it set up ( straighten the neck) when it arrived. No problems since then. I use fender flatwounds ML and they sound great. It's a long scale 36 inches from bridge to nut, just FYI. But I would recommend Deans.
