Still- one of my favorite "accessories"

I say whatever works good for you. I think there's always upsides and downsides to every product. Although you might reduce friction you are inevitably going to attract more dirt/gunk etc., there's just no way around it. In your case if the playability is significantly better than its...

    Aguilar ToneHammer Failure

like I had mentioned previously, that’s without labor so I’m going to say I’ll have around $450 in it. I have an email to Paul @icepower to see if there is a possibility of getting one at the bulk price $192 (doubtful but worth the time an email) Even at $450 that would be ok if I was pretty...

    Aguilar ToneHammer Failure

Well, my assumptions and pricing were correct on this amp after waiting for 3 Months. New power module needed $335 not including any labor fees. It's probably going to get shelved. Bummed out but it is what it is.

    Bizarre string-changing experience

So true, strive for close to perfect intonation just to be screwed up anyways with slightly less than perfect left hand technique.

    Bizarre string-changing experience

Yes, try to intonate the area you most use. I’d say for me it’s always the 3-5 frets are carrying a lot of the load. Mathematically impossible to have a perfect intonation so just focus where you play the most.

    Bizarre string-changing experience

There is no such thing as a perfectly intonated bass or guitar. Well there is some weird guitar with compensated squiggly frets (true temperment) but no instrument will ever be intonated perfectly on every fret. Some people set intonation on 3rd and 15th. Some open and 12th. But honestly, no...

    Bizarre string-changing experience

lol. I actually love changing my strings. I tend to enjoy making sure my bass is well intonated and set up. Typically though I don’t ever let my house get either extreme damp or dry so it’s pretty much set it and forget it. If I do jump down string gauges I will loosen the truss rod maybe 1/16...

Right Hand Habit - Plucking over the neck

Not sure why you think that’s a bad habit. The farther away from the bridge is a nicer, more flexible feel. I play different area on different basses but never close to the bridge. Always between the end of fretboard and middle of the bass. Also I prioritize comfort over everything so...

    Fender quality control 2025

For sure, sometimes we can get a little ocd on some really small stuff, but either way I think Sweetwater is actually one of the better stores on not being afraid to send an item back that isn’t meeting their own inspection. Now, you might end of having another dead spot but I wouldn’t be...

    Fender quality control 2025

I just don’t know how that’s even possible to screw something up that bad. Literally screw something so badly. That goes through how many hands. I guess that was part of my original post, how many people did my Fender go down the chain and not one person said “this body had dent into it prior...

Yea, that’s pretty bad. How in the hell are these leaving the factory like that.

    Fender quality control 2025

If you’re paying that much and not happy take it back. I’m pretty sure Sweetwater is pretty stellar on really going over these basses so I’d trust they wouldn’t send you something out that wouldn’t meet your expectations.

    Fender quality control 2025

True, It hasn’t been a secret the FujiGen was putting out some insanely well built basses and probably well exceeding quality of 80s American Fenders. But for quite some time and even extending into prouducts today, China would produce high volume batches of product built to anyone’s budget or...

    Fender quality control 2025

I’m not sure anyone thinks America has better qc but Fender pushes the illusion that it does and i think traditionally speaking when you are building to the price point of $500 vs $1500 there used to be a difference. So I can speak for experience, there absolutely used to be a difference. That...
