Thanks a lot for the replies. Should I pay attention to something next time I adjust the neck relief?

This is what I was thinking, because I dont remember hitting the bass anywhere, so it would get this crack. If a neck cracked because of the truss rod adjustment where it would crack?

I adjusted two times by almost 1/8 of a turn or so each time

I did my own neck relief a couple of weeks ago on my classic 70s jazz bass (first timer) and today i noticed these scratches (cracks??) on the back of the neck right where the skunk stripe ends. Can it be from the truss rod adjustment I did??

I heard this a lot about the standard j pickups (empty sounding etc). But i've read here and there that the p-pickup might get buried by the guitars in the mix, so that why i thought a jazz would be a better choice. Plus you get more tonal variation than with a p-bass

so its kinda like standards<classics and so on. Im asking now cause while i was almost about to buy a standard jazz, i came through a classic 50s precision which costs around the same money as the standard jazz. I know its a total different thing (p vs j), but you really got me thinking about...

thanks for all the replies guys. So the newer standards have some improvements after all. i searched 2 online stores and came across a copper metallic burst jazz bass which is not listed in the fender site. What do u know about this? Is this discontinued or something?

Well, unfortunately the classics cost a little more than they used to! :P Maybe 100-200 more. I tried a standard p 2-3 years ago but i wasnt that impressed. Are the new ones any better? Or go for a classic vibe and save some money?

Hello all! Sorry if this question has been asked 100 times but i cant find anything with the search tool! :P How are the new mexican standards compared to the older ones? I see they have new specs (high gloss finish etc). A salesman told me that they are way better than the standards made...

aerodyne is really nice! but its kinda out of my price range, because where i live it is about 200 euros more expensive than the ones listed. :(
