Thanks to all. Since my Vox crapped out, i'm in the market for a replacement that may last a while. I've been researching and there's a lot of info on the B1on. I'm just trying to understand.

Total neophyte here, do i understand correctly that I should just use the tuner setting in bypass to get a straight bass tone for headphone practice?

Don't waste your time on the VOX Ampbass. I bought one a year ago, stopped trying to learn due to shoulder problems. I just picked it up again and the VOX is not working. Not even with replacement batteries. I still need to get something else.

I'm new to this also and the same age with shoulder problems. I just got that SX and it's very comfortable to play. I don't have any problem with reaching the first frets and practicing. It only weighs 7 1/2 pounds. It looks good too. You won't be disappointed.

Sorry, but I'm new here. Seems that it's a TIP JAR, not a cover charge jar. Before I was reading TB, I probably wouldn't have noticed a tip jar on a stage at a bar.

I did my own set up following online instructions for Fender and it feels comfortable to play. I'm not getting any real fret buzz, but there may be something going on that I'm not recognizing. I'll have to find someone local to check my work.

I'm a new student, not knowing much about how a bass should sound or different tones. I just got the above SX and keep reading that many bassists replace the strings on their new SX's almost by default. Not that I intend to do this, but what strings do most prefer and why?
