I took ardgedee's advice and bought a simple passive A/B or A+B switch on amazon. It has a 9V connection if I want/need leds to indicate which function is connected. Thanks for the replies.

Here's a simple solution that might work well for my three hole bass. Noll Electronic has a nice selection of values in stacked pots: I could use one of these as vol/tone for each pickup in place of the existing shared separate vol and tone pots, and retain the 3 way toggle. Middle position...

Could I not run: N Pickup > tone pot N > volume N\ B Pickup > tone pot B > volume B /

Looking at this again and turning my brain up a notch it appears that the Noll is both a blend and a master volume. If that's so, I would have the ability to use separate tone pots for each pickup.
