    Mike Watt rewires all of his basses like that. A volume/blend combination makes more sense than a volume/volume combination in my mind.

    Is it worth it?

    Who cares about resale value if you have no plans to sell it? I say get it professionally refretted. Sure you'll dump more money into the thing than it's worth, but if you like the instrument I say make it better and don't run the risk of destroying it.

    You're right. I meant to say 3 o'clock with 5 being full on. Something is clearly wrong on the passive side. I was thinking the other day that the pre-amp tube is probably original from 1994. Could that be the problem?
