Is "Mustang Sally" a real song, or a TB joke?

come over here and play one gig to a middle aged crowd and I guarentee some drunk woman will ask you to play that song.

First Gig (and last, with that band) Debacle

I can't get passed the fact you actually had a soundguy, and sound check at a venue with 97 people. That's insane. One of our local gigs has a little PA setup but never a sound man. We do what most do and just run vocals through it. I do find your choice of gear a bit excessive but hey if you...

Going to take music in unviversity, Stay in Vancouver or move to Toronto?

I agree 100%. I went to Mohawk here in Hamilton for music and it's great. Southern Ontario is awesome for music. And being 18, don't worry to much about your contacts right now. 99% of the work I get now is through people I met in college. I also suggest taking the year off. Work, gig, jam...

    Not the best show.

Not to pick on you but what type of bar are yo playing in where you require monitors? Generally most bars I've played at my rig is plently loud, and we only need to put the singer through the board. Other then that try to rehearse in the same way as you guys would be gigging. My bands have...

First gig *ever*! Critique, mock, etc, please

First thing I thought. Specially the guitarist. Nerves aside just loosen up. How many times have you played those tunes, you probably got them down pretty solid. So just shake it out, make eye contact with the audience, with each other. And laugh and smile at the good and the bad.

Chicks at Shows 7: jschwalls Nukes TB: Radiation sickness ensues from Savannah, GA

All great ideas that I have in one way or another done in my life. And +10 for talking to the men as well as the women. Chicks like to go out and meet guys just as much as we like to meet women. Very nice pics by the way.

    Jazz Tunes and Soloing Techniques

The best part about knowing that tune, is dropping those chord changes over a blues or something. Like implying those chord changes in another song. Of course in the same key relative and such. That's what Trane used to do. Sounds pretty 'hip'

    First Gig Stories

I was in a punk band called "gay". We played at a local punk show. one of those 5 bands, 5 dollars at the door kinda thing. I think i was 15. We played well, people were big fans, but the venue got trashed. Urinals kicked off walls, spray painted building ect....Also somebodies girlfriend took...

    Cruise Ship gigs?

I did a brief stint last summer. Just brought my bass, in a hard case. Shared a room at the front of the ship that was smaller then my living room. Two people could not stand in the bathroom at one time. Though we were above the water line. Pay was decent, about 2g's a month. Playing wise...

Temperature in your area. (cause its freakin cold here in Florida.)

I live in hamilton, which is the city right by the -13C at the west most tip of lake ontario. gotta say tho, recently with the wind chill it's been below -20C, which is quite rough. Says it feels like -19C tomorrow, so that will suck. Def don't feel bad for some of the folks in the...

    Reggae Bass Question...

you gotta remember, the reggae cats like family man and robbie didn't have the best gear available. they just had what was available and made it work. They made a groove that sounded good. So dont worry about thumb muting, effects, amp settings ect...just play. Did it feel good? yeah? nice. Did...

    First time five string player

The main thing I noticed was being able to play (with some stretching) a two octave scale without moving my hand. like E F# G# on the B string, A B C# on the E string ect.. Or even doing a standard 24 124 134 kind scale, and shifting to get the next octave. Being able to jump 13ths is cool too...
