    Markbass 800 Tube with a 210 cab

Hi, this is quite a specific question but I've been looking for a little rig to bring to gigs, a Littlemark III and a Markbass Traveler 102P. Then a Markbass 800 tube with a 121 and 102P cab came up for a really good price. There is no way I'd have got this brand new I know it's overkill...

    Zoom MS-60b as a Tuner

Thanks guys... I think I may have to think about getting the tuner first and the Zoom later. It's not like risking on some random overdrive or something a good tuner should last me a few years. But the Zoom seems like it may muddy the waters a bit and my brain is telling me to keep it simple...

    Zoom MS-60b as a Tuner

I'm looking for a pedal tuner for bass, I'm torn between a TC Polytune (possibly the mini) or a zoom MS-60b. I kinda resent spending so much on a tuner and having to carry another pedal about, it is the most boring of pedals so the idea of some multi effects is appealing for the odd occasion...

Should I add a pickguard to my Lakland

As always when I ask a question here theres always tons of replies. Thanks for all the opinions, (even the sarcastic ones ;) ). I was tempted by a. but now considering b. As always with these things it's really hard to make a decision that at the end of the day probably doesn't matter ;)

Should I add a pickguard to my Lakland

I have a lovely sounding Lakland 4401, but I've never been 100% happy with the look of it. I got it as a little present to myself for getting a new job a few years back. I wanted a nice traditional looking Jazz bass. I should have got it in black as that's more me but was offered it for less...

    Good compressor for live use

Thanks to bongomania's reviews I bought an EBS MultiComp a while back it's got a great tone and adds hardly any noise, makes any other compressor I've used sound like a bag full of snakes in comparison. The battery is a pain in the arse to change but lasts for ages between changes. I tried a...

    Hartke LH 500 Cab Options?

I was having a similar problem, after hearing the LH500 the choice of head was clear but had no idea what to plug it into, had a lot of advice from the guys on this forum but eventually thanks to the help of my local guitar shop went with the 4ohm Ampeg SVT-410HLF, sounds great, weighs a ton...

    Bass Head and Cab advice

Just like to thank everyone on this site who helped with their advise/opinions. Ended up getting the Hartke LH500 and thanks to a great bloke in the music shop an Ampeg Classic 410HLF, it weights a ton but sounds amazing! I've had it a few months now and I can confirm that the amp and cab...

thanks billfitzmaurice, I've had alot of help from the forum, its made narrowing down on my idea amp a whole lot easier! I guess what I'm getting at is will with the same amp turned up to the same level and plugged into a cab rated 300w or 800w will the output volume be roughly the same...

Maching Cabs to Heads - power ratings

I've been looking for a new rig, and I've pretty much nailed it to the Hartke LH500, I've played a few amps, Ashdown Mag II, Hartke 3500, Laney RB4 and Gallien-Krueger Backline. I was really keen on the Hartke 4.5XL cab but not 100% on the tone or weight! I was wondering if I was to pair it...

    Bass Head and Cab advice

If I do go for the Hartke LH500 or 3500a whats the issue with the tubes in the pre-amp? How delicate are they? Will I need to replace them any time? Basically will I be living in constant fear of them blowing up? ;)

    Bass Head and Cab advice

Thanks to atheos and dannster, going to give some serious consideration to the Hartke LH500 looks like a goody. Apart from that non of the others seems to have a clear lead so guess I'll have to trust my ears in the shop. If I was to go for the Gallien-Krueger would you recommend the...

    Bass Head and Cab advice

Hope someones still looking at this and thanks for all the votes, although there's no clear leader! ;) I think that none of the amps has a clear lead means it will come down to snap decision in the shop. Any opinions on the 4X10 cab, I play a bit of reggae now and then so not sure if an...

    Bass Head and Cab advice

I notice nobody's mentioned the Laney RB9, should I avoid this like the plague? I only mention it as I've got an RB4 at the moment which is why I'm looking to upgrade, it sounds OK but nothing to shout about. Seriously considering the Hartke LH500, I like the idea of extra power.
