Hartke LH 500 Cab Options?

Hey all. I just had a long talk with the bass section manager for my local music shop. He knows that I am going to get the LH500. I tried playing it through an 8 ohm 4x10, and it sounded...ok. I mean, no worse than what im playing through now.

i then tried it through a 4 ohm 8x10. And it sounded a ton better. But I dont want to lug around an 8x10, or 2 4x10s. My question is, where can I find a 4x10 that well sound just as good, at 4 ohms. My budget for it is 600 and under. Thanks all! I know the wise minds at TB can cook up something. Gracias!

I think they only come in 8 ohm though, right? I didnt think that hartke made 4 ohm 4x10s.

Ashdown do a 4ohm 4x10 in their ABM range... at least they did...

I second avatar. You can get their cabs in 4ohm, and they are well within your price range.

Avatar have quite a reputation around here...I have the same head, and Hartke recommends at least 600W @ 4 Ohms, so the Avatar which runs at 1000W RMS should be good. Plus, for $439, they aren't a bad price. You can find used ones on here pretty low, and the scratch and dent section on the Avatar site usually has something useful for a nice little discount (assuming you don't care about a dent or two). One in there now for $385.

The other option I can think of is Carvin. The BR410N runs at 1200W at 4 Ohms, and it $530 if you buy direct.

I went for a Carvin 210, but if you are really set on a 410, I say the Avatar is definitely the way to go.

I'm running my LH500 through an Avatar 112 at 4 ohms and loving it. There are lots of 4 ohm options available. Avatar comes in 4 ohms on most of their cabs

I've been running my LK500 into an Avatar B212 and B410 (both at 8 ohms) and it sounds great. The B410 sounds great alone, too. Maybe I will try jumping them for a 4 ohm load...

Only your ears can decide that. Give it a go if you've got some local Ashdown dealer. I tried my Avatar stack at 4 ohms and I think I like running the cabs independently through each 8 ohm output better.

I was having a similar problem, after hearing the LH500 the choice of head was clear but had no idea what to plug it into, had a lot of advice from the guys on this forum but eventually thanks to the help of my local guitar shop went with the 4ohm Ampeg SVT-410HLF, sounds great, weighs a ton!

Much punchier than a lot the cabs I tried. Plenty loud enough to gig with, if I needed anymore I guess I'd be plugging into the PA anyway.
