I know you know WAY MORE than I do Roger and you're probably right. I bought the bass used from Bass Central and maybe the former owner messed with the pups. Not sure. What I do know is, I love the bass!! I've owned Fenders, Laklands, Dingwalls, Modulus, Carvins and the Lord knows what else...

My MV5 P/J came with the Nordie's in it. For whatever reason the j pickup was so much louder than the P pup. I took the J pup down as far as I could and still had the same problem, I figured futher away from the strings would help.... Ummm, no. I was lucky enough to talk to a well known country...

Sadowsky MV5 P/J,Aguilar DB750, Aguilar GS410/Aguilar GS212. My G.A.S. has been quenched! It took me about 4-5 gigs and a lot of "backyard EQ-ing" to dial in a tone that worked at various places, but I never been happier!!!:hyper:

The SD's sound more like the pickups they were built to sound like... In other words, the P pup sounds like a P pup and the Jazz sounds like a Jazz. The Nordie's (to my ears, and just my ears) had no distinctive personality to their respective pickups. The P pup sounded ok, but not very...

I had the Nordstrand pups in my Metro MV5 P/J bass, but switched them out for the Seymour Duncan wound Sadowsky pups. The bass sounds way better IMHO.
