    I have had success with krylon. It is currently enamel based and a lot of people will tell you to stay away from this because it is a softer paint and there can be problems with clear coating.     It looks perfectly fine to me, perhaps there is a problem with the jack?? The ground from the bridge should go to the sleeve on the jack

    Looking at the wiring diagram, I think i see what you mean. Could I get around this by keeping both volume pots but adding a 3 way? Something like this http://www.seymourduncan.com/pdfs/support/schematics/2h_2v_1t_3w.pdf pretending those are bass pickups, of course

    Is that to say that turning one of the volume knobs to 0 on the pbass special doesn't completely isolate the other pickup?? It seemed to sound like it to me when I was experimenting (but I'm new to bass).
