Necessity is the mother of invention.

A big old gnarly used 'fender' washer would be nice also.

I asked for feedback here a little while ago, and this is what it turned into

Very cool. I will be using this during my struggles with odd signatures with community band music. THANKS!

    Small combo at home

I've been quite pleased with my small Ampeg. Great for home and it's enough to hold it's own with a not-too-loud guitar.

    Anyone ever try Thumb picks?

Due to old dude arthritis wrist, I've really been trying with the thumb pick for maybe 6 months. It really helps with my picking hand, allowing me to play longer. BUT, getting the attack angle correct is a challenge, at best, and alternating up/down strokes is (for me) next to impossible...

TC Electronic Spark Booster. Underrated champion of low-gain overdrives

^^ Good advice! Similar as me.... Set unity gain with Level, adjust bass and treble to taste, then add Gain until I get the 'grit' I want. Then I select between 'Fat', "Clean' and 'Mid' modes for each song, depending on whether I'm fingerstyle (mostly mid mode) or pick (some songs are clean...

"Matte-d" a pickguard. Perfect job for a miserable summer day.

Edited the post above for clarity, but you also need to just let the weight of the pad do the work. No leaning on it.

"Matte-d" a pickguard. Perfect job for a miserable summer day.

I used these and the colors surprised me. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KRVPMYB They worked fine, but I have to keep them separate from my other set to avoid mass confusion.

"Matte-d" a pickguard. Perfect job for a miserable summer day.

It ain't much to share. Lay the pickguard on a clean surface. Affix a new Scotch Brite pad to a solid back. Sand lightly in small circles. Work through grits (800, 1500, 2000 for me) And let the weight of the pad do the work, little or none of your weight.

"Matte-d" a pickguard. Perfect job for a miserable summer day.

800, 1200, 2000 Scotchbrite pads. Not cleaning the worksurface before starting was a mistake. That's where the bigger of the scratches came from. The pad slid off the side of the PG and picked up some bit of crap. Anyway, it looks good by criteria (6 feet away).

    sq series capacitor

Bigger is always better, especially if it costs more than $0.10.

    Official Exquisite/Glarry/Burning Fire Bass Club?

This was drop in for me. Two less screwholes than the Glarry, but it's fine https://www.ebay.com/itm/174166877492

    Customizing a bass

I had a blast recently upgrading a $90 Glarry. Hipshot tuners, GZR pickup.

Weird idea: Pedal Actuated Foam Mute

Something like the "B bender" but for a mute. All springs and levers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-Bender
