Your favorite bass purchase of 2018

I've had a few years neglecting bass, but have just got back to it in the past month or so. So this purchase was significant: First new strings on my 5 string this century!

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

Totally agree. I have an AO 60s Jazzmaster and it's the best guitar I've ever had. I've heard similar about AO Teles too and I'm glad they got the AO Jazzes right too.

    Renaissance/Turner Basses Club

I don't own a Turner instrument though I'd love to. I use another musical instrument forum, nothing to do with the bass, where Rick Turner and his son used to contribute quite a lot. I looked forward to their posts which were always very informative and knowledgeable. Rick shared freely his...

    Headless Club???

It's good to find a place where owning one of these isn't seen as odd. Looking back through the thread it seems the only thing that's odd is only having one. I bought my B2A V new in 2000 I think. My first headless, my first 5 string, my first active, my first neck-through. I've always...

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

Thanks. Your Precision reminds me of the 1976 I borrowed from a work colleague to see how I got on with bass before buying one. I tried so hard to persuade him to sell it to me, but no. Was the gold marker signature on the scratchplate visible on your NR Jazz? It's there on mine, but you have...

Yes, to the first part. I'm retired now and playing music is what I get up for. I've no plans for playing with others at present, but who knows. So I'm improving my reading and revising my music theory and harmony knowledge. Keeps me busy enough for now. I'll bear the suggestion in the second...

The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

I'm new to Talkbass, but I've had this CiJ Noel Redding Jazz from new in 1998. Bought in Colchester for around £450 and numbered in the high 800's. To be honest, it was never my favourite bass to play, but Jazzes are the most elegant bass ever and it does sound good. I felt at the time and...

The Official Warwick Club (Part 6)

I just signed up to Talkbass and figured I'd drop in here. Since the greatest bassist who ever lived played Warwick (RIP Jack) I always wanted a Warwick. I got lucky in a local Cash Converters (like a pawn shop) and picked up a 1996 bubinga/wenge Corvette for not very much cash. I loved it and...

Hello all I started playing guitar in 1968. My first bass was a Shaftesbury EB3L copy in the early 70's (long gone now), but I didn't really get serious about the bass until the 1990's when my son started playing drums and suggested I got a bass. Chinese Squier Precision from the local shop and...
