I also play in a similar project! Other than using your basic major and minor scales, some other scales that I tend to use often are blues scales and other modal scales (Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian etc) you can just look up the tabs on the Internet somewhere and just practice away

That's a very solid idea, the only problem with that is my guitar player can be very moody and at times can turn into a big emotional baby, so if I say to him that I'm working on another project of the same genre, he'd take it personally and probably would accuse me of not being direct with him

Thats kind of the approach ive been taking, fusing it all together to please all of us, but in order to do that we would need a good blend of each influence, but greatness comes with time. Thanks for the feedback!
