I was gonna say Hawkwind, but that band is pretty much way beyond blues, tading it all in for psychadelia.

Here's one I like. Still blows me away. Paz's bass sounds great, and she's not hard on the eyes, either (no, that's NOT her in the splash picture, lest you think I'm blind):

If you want heavy psychedelic blues its Hendrix all the way, but here's a clip of a pretty much unknown Jim Krueger in 1969. He went on to play with Dave Mason. Died in '93.

Lot of "stoner" rock fits that description, being blues-based but not necessarily following the standard I-IV-V blues format.

Yeah, I was gonna suggest some early Dead with Pig Pen. Even early Deep Purple before Glover and Gillan like Hush & Hey Joe.
