Double Bass Vance Piano Accompaniment Recordings?

Hello. I have purchased several of the Vance books for self-study. I am trying to find recordings of the piano accompaniment without the example bass, but haven't been successful. Are there any recordings of these, or would I ALSO have to buy the piano books to get the recordings?

Double Bass Gollihur vs. Upton basses

Too bad you are so far upstate in NY. I have a fully carved Bulgarian Kremona from Gollihur from 2001. I'm selling for $2,250 with brand new Pirastro Perpetuals on it. I upgraded to a New Standard a few months ago, and this one is now sitting idly by waiting for someone to enjoy. It's a great...

Double Bass New bass: Carved New Standard La Scala

It's really only my open A (other than the wolf at the Bb an octave up) that causes a weird resistance. I've grown to love the mittels though. I like the tension of them.

Wil owns New Standard basses. His email address is [email protected]. He's normally very responsive.

Double Bass New bass: Carved New Standard La Scala

Yup. I mean, I tend to drool over those 100 year old Morelli's, etc., and certainly they've stood the test of time by literally being in existence now to play (there's a wonderful Juzek I would have probably begged my wife to let me get on the TB classifieds), but what will these basses be like...

Double Bass New bass: Carved New Standard La Scala

At least for the hybrids, and I imagine for the carved, he imports the bodies. He does the varnish himself, and I believe currently Kieran O'Hara does the setup work. I believe the setup has been done by different people over the years. I am just so excited about mine. It's the right "amount" of...

Double Bass New bass: Carved New Standard La Scala

Yeah. I was iffy on the Spiros, but they calmed down pretty quick and I just LOVE them on my bass. The E string really opened and those notes up to the G are clear and growly now. The C on the A string just roars. Only issue I have is the open A with arco seems to just be a little tough to bow...

Double Bass New bass: Carved New Standard La Scala

Fantastic. My hybrid LaScala is breaking in nicely about a month or so in. The Spiros feel fantastic. And the bass just growls so much. Even completely across the board. My E string opened up pretty nicely now, and it feels like it sounds better every day.

SOLD 1939 Juzek previously owned by Gary Peacock

Had I not bought my LaScala (which I love) about a month ago, I would have begged my wife to let me up my budget 2.5K and would have bought this in a heartbeat. What a wonderful instrument.

Double Bass New Bass Day / Week / Month (LaScala Gets the Rose)

Yes. This is a really unique varnish job. The gamba version (Pamplona hybrid) they had is lighter and more "standard". I was really struck by how he did this finish, including doing some "antiquing." On the scroll you can see where he left the edges lighter, etc. It's really striking. And it...

Double Bass Keeping Upright Bass Handy For Daily Practice

I have a stand I purchased from Gollihur back when I got my first bass. The bass sits in my office, and I literally pick it up probably 50 or more times a day. It's by Meisel. I saw one in Gage I really liked that was low, had a place that leans the body against, and also kind of a "dish" for...

Double Bass New Bass Day / Week / Month (LaScala Gets the Rose)

Well, when I said "dark" I obviously meant the finish. :-) Nah, seriously, I think I do agree with you. When I posted that originally, I was A/Bing against that German Rubner bass that was pretty darned bright...lots of mids, and more high end, so in comparison, the LaScala sounded darker. Now...

Double Bass New Bass Day / Week / Month (LaScala Gets the Rose)

Yeah, Jeff is awesome. Great, great player. He was on a tour with Take 6 with a guitarist friend of mine who turned me onto Jeff's new album, and I contacted him. He and I both were at Towson and took lessons from the same instructor, but I went a different direction (didn't stay in the program...
