Rush: Why do (most) Women not click with this band?

From my experience being around and dating girls in the metal scene I can say that females are just naturally inclined towards simple pop music, even if they present themselves as giant metalheads. I've found that if I hang out around a metal chick long enough I'll realize that she knows way too...

    Ungrounded solid state Ampeg amp

Thanks for the help, guys. My guitarist actually works in a recording studio and has access to all these tools and knows his way around amps, so he's gonna fix the plug for me this weekend during practice so I can use it. Today just keeps getting better!

    Ungrounded solid state Ampeg amp

This weekend I picked up an Ampeg b50r Rocket solid state amp. I get it back to my apartment after a 2 hour train ride and realize........The grounding prong on the plug is missing. I took photos of it before bringing it home and realized that it was missing the prongs then, too. It was such a...

    Ampeg B-50R Rocket

I was just about to ask this question - If I play out with it live then chances are I'd have to run it through a cab.

    Ampeg B-50R Rocket

I actually tried out the 200 watt Rumble last week and was considering that for my first choice. The Rumble would be louder and more portable, but the Rocket is also appealing since I'm an Ampeg nut, it looks cooler, and the one I'm looking at is also about half the price.

    Ampeg B-50R Rocket

Thanks, everyone. I should've clarified this before, this amp would mainly be for home practice. My band uses 2 practice spaces - One has a Mark II combo, the other has a standard Ampeg 8x10 cab with a Hartke head. But sometimes the gigs we play don't have a bass amp or a head in the backline so...

    Ampeg B-50R Rocket

I'm very quickly outgrowing my old Rogue 50 watt and I'm looking to upgrade to a higher quality combo. I learned that someone I know is selling an Ampeg B-50R for dirt cheap, and as an Ampeg fan I'm interested. Have any of you played through one before? What're your thoughts? Some background on...

Do you let other people play your bass?

And just out of principle, I won't let anyone play my guitars or basses for extended periods of time unless I trust them. I'm pretty rough on my gear but luckily never break anything, even after years of use/abuse. But I know people who have shaged up my guitars within 5 minutes of being handed...

Do you let other people play your bass?

The last time I ever let someone play my stuff live was when I was playing guitar in a band. The show was the most disorganized mess ever - Every band dropped off except for my band and this group of high school kids......And of course these kids were gonna share gear with one of the other bands...

Do Others Scoff At Your Choice to Use Cheaper Gear?

And honestly the lay person (At least 50% of the crowd) will have no idea what makes good or bad tone. To them if it makes noise then it's doing its job. Yes, you can have terrible EQ that will make people cringe (Too much treble on guitar that kills your ears or too much low end on the bass...

    Combo amp vs. stack

36.5 pounds for a 2x12 isn't bad at all! I heard a demo on Youtube of the Fender Rumble and it sounds pretty badass. All my guitar amps are Fenders and it'd be cool to keep up the tradition with bass, but this is definitely a scenario where I'd have to go to a store and sit down and play with...

Do Others Scoff At Your Choice to Use Cheaper Gear?

I'd say half my guitar collection are old Harmonies and similar brands. When I was 13 in 1999 my dad bought me a Kent Americana hollow body for $50. I loved how funky these guitars were, and also how cheap (Not to mention they worked perfectly in my first punk band). I wouldn't use these to play...

Do Others Scoff At Your Choice to Use Cheaper Gear?

All the expensive gear in the world can't help you if you lack talent: You might SOUND good, but can you PLAY good? And honestly I find a lot of people who obsess over the greatness of their gear to be overcompensating for their lack of talent and treating their gear like a status symbol rather...

    Combo amp vs. stack

So far I've been lucky in my time as a bass player - Every practice space and almost every gig I've played has had some kind of bass amp, usually an Ampeg 8x10 with something like a Hartke or GK head. But there have been a few gigs I've played where I needed to bring my own amp, which is a...

Low end on my amp keeps cutting out

I have a 15w practice amp I use in my bedroom, and lately the low end has been cutting out. Here's a video showing the problem: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] If you notice, the low end kicks in if I push the tip of the cable down, but as soon as I let it up the lower frequency boom...
